Perfect spot as we passed through town. Just off one of the main streets so plenty of food options. Less than 20 minutes away from white sands. The sites are spacious with cute picnic areas. The staff was very friend. There is a cute little gift shop inside along with Rv essentials. It’s a fully Loaded RV park also with Rec room, laundry and showers as well. If you want a sled for the white sands you. An also rent them here :
I enjoyed my 3-night stay here. Good location for exploring White Sands NP. Also spent a day exploring historic Almagordo, and then Cloudcroft up the nearby mountains. Both are interesting and worth it. The sites at the park are slightly cramped, but nicely maintained. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Very nice KOA. We booked a RV site for 6 days in August during a heat wave. Close to some great national parks like White Sands. Everyone was very friendly and helped me when I asked for it. We did like the rec room where I played ping pong with my son and they did loan us a sled for the dunes. Tip: bring one with a flat bottom it’ll go faster and use their wax it’s worth it. I traveled from MI and I will definitely be coming back here bc we love New Mexico even though it was hot!! Nearby activities: White Sands National Park is only 20 minutes away and Carlsbad Cavers is about a three hour drive but definitely worth it.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice pool, game room and laundry. I didn't use the bathroom or showers. Small store with a few things you might need. Play ground is nice. Horseshoe pit was fun as well. Our site had a picnic table, was level and had full hookups.Rooms: 5/5
Great location to White Sands National Park. They'll even loan you a sled for the day. The employees are very nice and welcoming. I loved the cacti around the park. I had no power or water issues which is great considering how hot it was. I did not use the showers or WiFi so I cannot speak to those. I would come back here if I'm in the area again though.
Great place. Super friendly. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our dogs loved the K9 section. It is close by everything and only 20 min away from White Sands National Park.
Staff and other campers were extremely friendly! Easy access to White Sands and beautiful challenging hikes nearby Alamo Canyon was awesome!. Laundry room was reasonably priced and all of the machines were working, which from our experience is a rarity. WiFi is okay when it was working, but it cut out a lot. Good/quiet community room to work on a laptop or hang out. There was live music on Friday. Campground offers free sleds to take to White Sands.
Stayed here twice in the last 30 days and loved it both times. Super-friendly staff/owners, clean bathrooms, quiet park-like atmosphere. We stayed here over the fourth of July and they had the makings for smores! Great value for the price. We will be staying here again. Highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Campground: Alamogordo / White Sands KOA Journey City, State: Alamogordo, New Mexico Check-in: June 30, 2023 Check-out: July 1, 2023 Site Number: E5 pull thru - water & elec Our Set Up: 32 foot Class C and TOAD We Liked: Friendly staff. Roads easy to navigate. Level site. Nice shrubbery and fences between sites for privacy. We Didn't Care For: There were no downsides to this KOA. Overall Assessment: We did an overnight at this KOA while visiting White Sands National Park. It is a top-notch KOA Journey. The facilities were clean and kept up. We had an end site that was close to the road and train track. There was no car noise and the train only passed through a couple times. When we arrived there was a group of musicians performing in the common room. The pool was quite cold, but refreshing. It dropped down to 9 feet, which is rare. Gentleman at the front desk alerted me that water psi at the campground is 90 and to be sure to use a water pressure regulator. I would highly recommend this campground.
I had a pleasant stay. I appreciated as always KOAs accommodations. Neat and convenient site. The setting inside the city limits came with its own set of issues, most notably the noise. Noteworthy details: Appreciation for the laundry and dishwashing facilities. These comforts make the tent camping experience A bit better.
