From the moment I entered the emergency room, I was treated with respect and concerned about my condition. Got into my room by 4am. Nurses were friendly, efficient and caring. Even the staff doctors were decent. I have little or no complaints about Albany Medical Center.
If I could post a lower score than a 1 star, I would. My time at Albany Medical couldn’t have been worse, as I was In a constant state of agony the entire 3 day stay. Maybe 4 or 5 people I encountered truly care, but my nurse was very inexperienced and caused a ton of trauma attempting to insert an IV into my wrist. Overdue by hours for pain management medication, only to be further ignored by my nurses. I was told “this is a hospital, not a hotel” when concerned about the lack of attention. Will never return to this facility, and would never suggest anybody come here that’s expecting comfort, urgency or even respect.
The ER sucks! After 6 hours of waiting, still nothing. Waiting this long has caused my back to spasm even more. Some people been here 12 hours. There is just no excuse for this ridiculous wait time. Get a better system AMC. There should be a fast track for those who can get in and out. How the hell are you a hospital with and only have one or no doctors working ER? Discharging a person shouldn’t take hours. You can’t have a bunch of homeless people just checking in to have some where to sleep. Emergency medical attention is for ER and it doesn’t seem to be any urgency or emergency at Albany Medical Center.
Absolutely horrendous. ICU was fantastic but once my son was moved to E it was hell. The most bitter and uncaring nurses I have ever experienced. Sent my son home with zero supplies use of only 1 leg and a full catheter bag because god forbid anyone do their job. I cannot stress enough how poorly the “nurses” treat both the patient and their family. Please please go ANYWHERE else but Albany Med
Staff was over worked clearly, people were there for the slightest cough. They could of went to an urgent care. My husband broke his leg and he sat in a pool of blood for hours. Staff was a hit or miss on if they were kind or not.. his over night nurse was very disrespectful told him he was treating the place as if it were a hotel when he was there Sunday-Tuesday tried leaving Monday, got to leave Tuesday morning. Other staff was forcing him to stay, she was very disrespectful and unprofessional. She removed his IV and then put his IV back in, when she should have never removed his IV in the first place. He was very emotional the whole time she could have been a little more patient due to the situation and his lack of sleep. I feel you shouldn’t be working in healthcare if you’re not good with people or can’t put an IV In correctly.
There is very little communication to the patient & family. Takes forever to get a nurse or aide to the room. The health conditions were aweful. Floor had debris all over, bed linens weren't changed in 5 day, Dirty blankets, dirty chucks & dirty pillowcases. The worst was blood on the sink . Nurses & aids were wonderful once they got to you. Not the best experience.
Horrible care. Medication was late or overlooked. No shower the entire visit. Miscommunication between providers. Discharge was nearly forced on a moment’s notice but was overturned by the nurse manager three times. I finally had to leave for my own safely and sanity.
The staff were nice and helpful but extremely overworked. We were in the ER waiting for a doctor to give us test results until almost midnight, when we finally gave up and left. The results had been ready for hours, confirmed by 2 nurses. It was an abominable scene: crowded with patients who were suffering, virtually ignored, for hours. If you have another option, take it.
This is the worst hospital that I have ever seen. I have been here waiting for 11 hours and I'm still waiting . the hospital is unprofessional and dirty .Never again .Please don't ever take your mother or father or grandparents their if you want them to live ..to make matters worse my husband after waiting 12 hours and feeling sick he went outside and started throwing up he returned within 10 minutes they tell him that they called his name and he had to register all over again and the staff was so rude towards him they made him feel like he was more of a problem then a patient. Unreal never once that he gave them any problems The lady at the check in could definitely in need of a attitude adjustment.
This is a STAR Hospital!!! ONE STAR OR LESS!! Arrived by ambulance aprox. 11:45pm.Started well taken back... given tests; THATS ALL THE GOOD THAT CAN BE SAID!! Then told would wait to compare EKG and blood tests. 12 hours later no one called my name. Attempted to ask girl behind desk.. assured me some one would come out to talk. Two times.. i waited an hour longer...NO ONE called me in to tell me anything. When asked 3rd time, she stated my name continues to get bummped to the end of list. Wth????? So i finally left after a FULL 17 hrs with this ordeal involving chest pains & b.p 176/95 Given nitro paste at Elis...and then transportrd here by ambulance... To LEAVE WITH NO UPDATE ON INFORMATION. NEVER SPOKEN TO AGAIN results in representing how bad this place is.
