Very nice art museum with a great inventory. Many pieces of art from both renowned artists and artists I never heard of before. Unfortunately as of this review, the new building that they had been working on for years was not open. It will be opened towards the end of July from what I could gather. They gave us free entrance passes to return when the new building opens. I am happy I got to finally visit this museum as it had been closed for my entire time in Buffalo. Would gladly return and would recommend to others.
This is a great representation of what is to the world! The beauty in different aspects between arts and generations with different materials is well represented in this location. I recommend it to each and every person that comes and visit the city of Buffalo. It’s definitely wheelchair assessable and very accommodating to any persons need.
Great museum with friendly staff! While I was disappointed that the works by Nam June Paik and Tony Conrad were not on display, the rest of the museum was fantastic. Organized very nicely and the staff seem to actually know what they're talking about and care to be there, whereas in other museums I've found the staff unhelpful and miserable. Very welcoming. There's a nice LEGO installation for children as well, if you are bringing any.
Beautifully redone museum. The brand new wing was delayed in opening but the refurbished section and new entrance show the time and effort put into the project. A must see and n Buffalo. Make sure to schedule enough time to enjoy the wonderful collection.
We've spent a lot of time at the AKG back before the new addition. We've yet to see all of it yet, but we certainly plan to. The old plaza/open space in the Bunshaft addition is now the square, and is enclosed and open to the public. If the new addition is as cool as this transformation is, it will definitely be worth going to.
An important small gallery with an astonishing array of familiar artwork across numerous movements and genres. Balla’s little dachshund in motion; Picasso ; de Chirico; Monet ; Degas painting and sculpture. So much more. Thoughtfully laid out in spacious well lit rooms with good visitor flow. And soon, a whole new wing to show off even more of the collection. Stunning entryway and beautiful grounds, along with an important collection, the AKG merits an afternoon of your time. And a return visit
Fantastic exhibits.... Especially the mirror exhibit by Lucas Samaras... Well worth a visit when in Buffalo...... Don't bother going to get food at the onsite eating establishment...Cornelias... If you aren't white you don't get your food.... We ordered our food... Waited 45 mins while other guests who came after us received their food... All we ordered was one cheese platter....
Why so many staff? Not useful! One white female staff followed autistic individual and myself around as if we were going to steal something! As special need customer enjoyed the colors he was seeing, spelling words he saw, taking pictures at various exhibits for his mom: this staff member kept telling autistic individual who enjoys saying, HELLO!” to people he sees, DONT WALK HERE! DONT STAND HERE! And the most rude part was TELLING INDIVIDUAL TO BE QUIET! Even church and library staff don’t say that to a special need person! After being harassed a number of times, we left before seeing all the museum had to offer! A waste!!!! Nice architecture! But, we won’t be back! The white female staff by the ‘Soup’ art display around 2:15pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 should be reprimanded: The highlight of being at AKG was being in the yellow Lego kiddie area that displayed the art as individual drew on green trimmed screen!
What an experience! We took my parents and two children, everyone loved it. As they rotate out the collection, we can't wait to go back and experience more of what is amazing gallery has to offer.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesFree entryYes
There aren't enough superlatives to describe how beautifully liberating this space is. The architecture, alone, is reason enough to visit. With the art housed within, it's a must-visit when anywhere near Buffalo. The open-air design invites the visitor to slow down and truly contemplate the wonderfully curated and highlighted works of art. Once the parking paucity is addressed, the AKG Albright Knox Gundlach will be even better.
