My group and I had a wonderful stay here this weekend. The rooms are very basic, but the staff was the highlight - they were sweet, helpful, and VERY accommodating. Thank you to everyone who works there for a wonderful weekend!!Rooms: 3/5
Me and the girlfriend went there to spend the night and in the middle of the night I started itching badly and boom when turning on the lights we found bedbugs/fleas all over the bed. Definitely wouldn't stay here!!!!Rooms: 1/5
This is perfect for people looking for a place to stay while fishing or hiking. Yes the place is older and has the hint of cigarettes in a non-smoking room, no the sheets arent Egyptian cotton. If you're looking for THAT place plan on spending about 200 bucks more per night. The woman who owns the hotel is very nice, and extremely accommodating. She actually cooked me a fantastic meal of traditional Indian food and didn't charge me! The room I was in had a TV, fridge, microwave and a newly remodeled bathroom. I would highly recommend the Alcove to those people who are fishing, hiking, leaf-peeping, etc. The woman who owns it will give you what you need if you just ask. I didn't find her to be "sneaky" in the least. The one complaint I have is that the bed I was to sleep in had a cigarette burn through the comforter into the bottom sheets, and a couple old stains, but since she had already given me an upgrade due to a shortage of rooms I simply slept in the other bed. I will DEFINITELY be staying there whenever I visit the area to fish.
Went there for a night away with my boyfriend and were very disappointed. Paid 65.00 for the night and walked into a room with a bed not made no towels a shower with what looked like cleaning stuff on the bottom of it, no cable and no internet as it states on the sign. We had been there before and we had all those amenities but this time we didn't. Won't be returning there again.
The first room we got had fleas and the sink did not work. The lady at the front desk suggested that WE were the ones that brought the fleas in and she said she forgot she turned off the sink the "other day". The room was not vacuumed or dusted. The sign outside the motel says AC and Heat, LIES. There was only a tiny box fan. We went back to the office after 10 minutes of being there and she had just gone to the bank... took her 40 minutes to get back. The other room she gave us took her 10 minutes to "make up", which was her way of checking that it was just clean enough for us to stay in. When we got inside, there were LAYERS of dust all over the box fan, all over the counters, the sink was disgusting and mirrors were all smudged. Again, this room had not been vacuumed at all, we found earrings on the ground, spiderwebs everywhere we stepped. The blanket on the bed had dog hair all over it, the white sheets were stained yellow and only one of the pillow cases was inside out... hmmm.. wonder why. The shower stall was more disgusting than a boys locker room shower, and again, another earring. After dealing with all of this for $60, we offered her 225 to stay for 3 weeks, not needing anything from her, that is it's worth and she said 220 for 5 days... place is a joke. Thank you for letting us have a dirty threeway on your mattress!
Me and my husband called last week on Tuesday to hold a one bed smoking room for last night, advertised with cable, wifi, air conditioning, phone, ect... On the phone the woman told me the price was 50, with tax would come out to 60. I asked the size of the bed and she assured me it was a queen. I gave her my card number to hold the room. Upon arrival yesterday we were greeted by a pitbull barking thru a glass window and waited 5 minutes for a gentleman to finally mosey his way over. After not knowing who we were he asked all the same questions the woman did on the phone and asked for payment. After having my card info on file since I called before arrival. Apparently their card machine was down so I HAD to pay cash and the man says $65 after the woman told me $60. My husband thankfully had cash on him and gave the man 80 dollars. About 10 minutes later the man appears back to the window with only $10 dollars change, claiming he owed us $5. We are given the key and drive to our door around the other side I believe owners live in house attached to motel which is right next to a bunch of kids and their backyard. Naturally it just felt wierd. Anyways, we opened the door to a stifling hot room, leaves and grass all over the carpet, and no air conditioning. A small 8 inch box fan was provided. The bed was not a queen and my husband and I are not small people so a full size was even more uncomfortable with no air. We were attending an event down the road and I decided after the long drive I would just shower there at the motel, but again that was a NOPE. The shower stall was grimy and black and the water only worked at a burning hot temp. So now I cant even shower before this event so i attempt to wear my hair with my brush and get ready sweating my a** off the whole time. Now as you remember i mentioned we are smokers so i got a smoking room. No ashtrays anywhere to be found. So i used my own knife and cut a beer can open to use, i open the window and apparently people dont use ash trays anymore. The windowsill and screen would do for them. At least 10 cigarette butts sitting in the windowsill, gross! At that point I was just so frustrated but also happy I brought a couple of my own blankets cuz god knows those sheets weren't fresh. And of course I pull the comforter back and theres burn holes all over the blanket. So my husband and I fell asleep and tossed and turned and sweat the whole night cant even take a cold shower to cool off. Around 8:30 am my door is being knocked on very loudly, check out is at 11 am, I made my husband answer the door and it was a woman maybe the one from the phone returning the $5 dollars. My husband mentioned all above problems and their was no excuse. Just pure silence. What the heck. Well now we are awake after our long drive and long event and its 830 am. We got up and left so fast I dont think I've ever seen my husband move that fast on a sunday morning EVER. Raced home 2 hours away and showered all of our grime off. Location is beautiful. Next time will have to check out other motel hillside 100 yards down the road. Unfortunately so dissatisfied.
We stayed here 2 nights on a guys trip in August of '15th. I made reservations weeks before , but was told when checking in there was none . Fortunately they had rooms available. Older motel ,well worn rooms . our non smoking room smell of stale smoke. No individual heat a.c. control. Vent in ceiling. We figured out the 2nd night the smoke smell was coming through the ceiling vent , We quickly stuffed an old car towel in vent , and put a box fan in window and it didn't smell as bad. If my wife was with us ,we would have gone to a different motel !
Great spot for fun,...Satan's Kingdom tubing..FoodTown Market..THe Dance Studio...THe Fudge Shop..Bamboo Chinese Take-out...The acclaimed New Hartford Diner..all within 5 minutes walk in the picturesque Farmington River Valley...Conscientious Staff and reasonable pricing
The location is nice but their rooms are very disgustingly dirty there's no heat you get given a ceramic heater for in the winter time or a stand-up fan for air in the summer time the walls are paper thin you sneeze and person in the next room hears it if you say anything bad they complain and it's not worth 280$ a week it's probably only worth 125$ a week..
Friendly staff. Clean beds and very comfortable mattresses. Reminds me of my grandmothers cottage back in Manitoba
