The Alert Fire Co. No. 1 of Downingtown, PA was formed in 1887 with a motto that still holds true today: The Danger of our Citizens Prompts us to Action.
We are non-profit, 100% volunteer, full service fire, vehicle and technical rescue organization, providing emergency care to the residents of Downingtown Borough, East Caln Township and and the surrounding communities.
The mission of the Alert Fire Co. No. 1 shall be the preservation of life and property from the destruction of fire and other emergencies in the Borough of Downingtown, PA and vicinity.
The Alert Fire Co. No. 1 is one of two companies that make-up the Downingtown Fire Dept. that provides Firefighting, Vehicle Rescue and Technical Rescue. We are located in the West Ward of Downingtown. The second company is the Minquas Fire Co. No. 2 that provides Firefighting, assists with Technical Rescue and EMS and are located in the East Ward of Downingtown.
