About

Award-winning Lebanese / Mediterranean Flatbreads. Alforon will take you back to 19th Century Lebanon with the authenticity & freshness of the old country

Description

San Diego’s first of its kind! Alforon brings you freshly made flatbread sandwiches and Lebanese cuisine from the finest of ingredients, baked daily in our state-of-the-art oven.

Everything -- and we mean everything -- is hand-made in-house. Alforon uses the freshest of ingredients: no freezers, no microwave, no forced heating of any kind.

We import our Zaatar and Summac, as well as our olive oil to bake like old times -- the soft flat bread sandwiches you use to roll when you were a kid, the toppings your mom, grandma and aunts did growing up. It is all done the old-fashioned way, from dough preparation and handling to baking and storing.

We opened in 2009 and our goal has always been to provide the most authentic, original Lebanese dining experience around, while treating our guests like family and friends in a comfortable setting. We pride ourselves on the freshest ingredients and an impeccable level of friendliness and cleanliness - we paint our kitchen floors white so we can see everything!

We purchase all our food locally, including from farmer's markets, and hand-prepare literally everything. You will never eat a pre-made dish at Alforon!

High recommend! Delicious food, fair prices. Plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, as well as meat eaters. We ate here for a weekday dinner and the service was fantastic. The chef or owner? even gave us recommendations on how to reheat our leftovers so they would taste their best. Small parking lot available, and some street parking.
Finally went after years of driving by and regret we waited so long. it was fantastic. The service even better as the owners were delightful people that were our type of joy and spunk that kept us laughing. Two of their dishes have been on the food network and dinners, drive-ins, and dives which you can tell because you taste the pride. The serve the only beer brewed in the Middle East which is a tasty lager. The wine was a heavy poor. Can’t wait to go back.
Sooooooo good! This is the best and most authentic Lebanese food I’ve had in a very long time. From the moment you walk in the door, to the moment you walk out, you are treated like family. The food is easily a 10/10, and the service is equally impressive, fun, friendly and extremely personable. I have a gluten allergy and the woman who helped with our order I believe it was the owner knew exactly how to guide us. We told her what we liked and she sent out the perfect order for us. This place is an incredible gem and I’m so happy we discovered it! We will be back a lot!
Place was busy on a Sunday nevertheless we enjoyed good food. Love the homemade pita bread and babaganoush. We also enjoyed the beef kabob. Our baby who is already eating solids liked the Shawarma. Vegetarian options: They offer couple of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu. Parking: Not a lot of parking in the vicinity. Had to park by the street which was not a big problem.
Quality quality quality! This was my first time eating Moroccan food and my summary is that the flavors are subtle but the food is tasty and great quality. The lamb was excellently cooked, moist, and tender. The rice and bread were all excellently seasoned. The owner Samya is also very friendly, she greet us upon entry and helped us choose our meals
We were on a vacation in San Diego in March, and we were trying a different restaurant every day. The last day we tried Alforno ,which I think is the absolute best restaurant i’ve ever went to. The food was so fresh and very delicious and they had quick service, the owner was very friendly, and I think the restaurant really deserves 5 stars.
The food is phenomenal!! The dish pictured below is a lamb, garbanzo bean, yogurt dish that my family and I could not get enough of!! The owners provide not just great food, and awesome service. They give you a total immersive experience. They are generous and kind. So much so they are willing to give the shirts off their backs. And in fact the owner did so!
Great food as always. We had Ouzi Lamb, Phoenician Pie and chicken Kebab. My only complaint is that the chicken Kebab is a bit dry. The other two are awesome!!!
I came in today and it was so amazing I had to rave about it immediately. I came in with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. We split the zataar Flatbread, the lamb and kibbeh. Every bite was made from heaven. The different flavors just busted in your mouth. The lady in the front picked one of our desserts accompanied by knafeh and I feel like I've been missing out on something great my entire life. The employees made the experience unforgettable. So much laughs and smiles. Make sure to stop in for a fantastic meal.
We loved this restaurant. Finally a real Mediterranean food! We forgot to take pictures before we eat as the Food looked very delicious The restaurant is clean, service is super nice and the owner is very caring We ordered the Baba Ghaboosh Delicious, Ouzi Lamb The Meat was very tender, Soujouk baked flat bread Definitely will come again if we visited san diego again
