The Alhambra Elementary School District is located in central Phoenix and encompasses 13 square miles within the cities of Phoenix and Glendale. Alhambra has 14 primary, middle, and elementary schools including a traditional school, a preschool center, and a family resource center, and serves more than 14,000 students in preschool through eighth grades. Ninety percent of students receive free or reduced-price food services, and nearly 40 percent of students are English language learners. Even with statistics such as these, student achievement continues to be at or above state and national levels, and is among the highest when compared to school districts with similar demographics.
