Knoxville Museum of Art is free and an absolutely wonderful experience. We took our 5 month old and 3 year old. They were very accommodating with our stroller. They have an elevator for this purpose. They have a fantastic collection of many diffrent styles of art. The staff is knowledge and friendly. The girls loved the interactive art room on the first floor. They have a massive light bright like you had when you was a kid. They have sketch pads and diffrent mediums for children to use. The gift shop is really nice and the lady gave the girls stickers. It's a wonderful place to spend the afternoon. If it's not to hot they have outdoor features as well. Things are expensive so this much culture for free is amazing. We're lucky to have this museum and I highly recommend a visit. You can make reservations in advance on the website. You wont be disappointed.
It was a very nice experience. I loved the miniature Thorne rooms in the bottom floor! They were so detailed and intricate. I can't imagine how long it must have taken. The temporary galleries were phenominal. A diverse set of artists with different styles and a lot of cool new stuff to look at. Overall a great place to go. Also it's free!
Fantastic displays of modern and traditional art all for free! Sleek architecture and comfortable seating as well. A wonderful sculpture garden and nice gift shop with fairly priced items. Don't miss it!
I usually always love smaller regional local museums and this one did not disappoint. There was a high school exhibit this day covering the first floor and these younger adults are just plain talented. The upper floor covers Tennessee artists where on one side a span of some years back and another more recent. Well curated and fun. Bonus is its free to all !
First time in the art museum. I enjoyed taking the tour and viewing all the art from the local artists. Highly recommend visiting the little gift shop also. Lots of goodies to purchase from the local artists. Will definitely revisit the next time we're in town.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Decent for free, took our time and it was about an hour to view all three floors. I wouldn't go out of my way to see the same things again. It was nice once.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
Let me preface this by saying that I have not an art lover. However, this experience may have changed me. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Knoxville Museum of Art. They had a nice display of glass art. The best experience was in the Asian collection. There were some fascinating pieces of artwork woven from pieces of paper with hidden images. The best part was the guide in this area was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about the artwork and was able to stimulate my interest and the art. She was able to provide enlightening answers to my stupid questions such as what is the meaning of the two giant heads in the center of the room. Admission was free but you do have to sign in with a scan app or they sign you up when you get there.
Very good Museum for being free, about 3 floors worth of exhibits, a women artists, glass, miniature houses section. There's free wifi, parking and restrooms. All in all a decent museum and it's close to the world's fair park and Sunsphere.
Wonderful art museum with the sweetest staff. I proposed to my wife here years ago May 2019, and didn’t mention a word about it to the staff or anything. When we turned around afterwards, the staff were cheering and clapping for us. One of the best memories that I’ll cherish forever.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This was a pleasant visit to the Knoxville Museum. They have staff to share details about the several exhibits and should take about 1.5 to visit. There is parking out front but there was construction during my visit so it reduces the number of spots. At the time of our visit admission was free. Well worth the visit.
