We have had the same issues as most others. The work was done VERY poorly. We actually had a Regional Manager come out. He took pictures and agreed that the work was not done properly. He stated he would come and finish the job oh yes, the install was never completed and then we have not heard from him. It should be pointed out that this company does not always do the install, they sub them out to other companies. This was never made known to us when we purchased the flooring from Lumber Liquidators. The gentlemen who actually came to install our flooring stated this was their first job with All Wood Flooring. If you do purchase wood from Lumber Liquidators save yourself the hassle. A 10% restocking fee is nothing compared to all the problems you will encounter if you use All Wood Flooring.
Purchased Morning Star Bamboo Flooring from Lumber Liquidators, and the product was originally installed by one person from All Wood Flooring. Were told it was an acceptable product for our house. About 6 months after install, we starting experiencing board separation in our foyer and by the staircase to the second floor. We had to have the people from Lumber Liquidators come out and inspect. We were told that it was an 'installation' issue. To resolve the problem, they had the installer, from All Wood Flooring the original installers, come out and essentially re-install the floor back down in those two areas. By the next winter, approximately 9 months after the 're-installation,' we started experiencing additional separation issues between the boards now in the living room, at the juncture of the dining and living room, as well as by the door to the back deck. We re-contacted the people at Lumber Liquidators and the people at All Wood Flooring and were told that we now have to have a national flooring inspector come out to the house, of which there are 5 in the state of Maryland. If that person deemed it was an issue with installation, their cost, which is between $750.00 and $1500.00 to do the inspection, would be covered. If it was an issue with the product in the house, we would eat the cost of the inspection and be left without coverage. We had a separate hardwood installer come out to the house last week and take a look at what was going on. Rather than an installation issue, he thought the problem was due to the boards shrinking in all 4 directions rather than just along the long axis. He also mentioned that the bamboo product of Morning Star is notorious for this issue. He essentially said that this product should not have been used in our house to begin with. Consumers need to be aware of the products being pushed by Lumber Liquidators and the quality of installation from All Wood Flooring here in Maryland. I will be filing a complaint against both companies with the BBB. This is unacceptable. I would gladly post pictures of the finished product if Google review allowed it. People need to see. I will be posting pictures to Consumer Affairs.
All Wood Flooring was the contractor assigned to us when we received estimates from Lumber Liquidators and they did an amazing job! We truly couldn't be happier with the service provided, the work done, and even the cost. We spent a long time almost 2 years getting quotes, deciding on the right floor, and budgeting out for the expense since we wanted very high quality floors and AWF actually honored their quote to us from almost 2 years ago. Their estimator was great- he came out on a Saturday, gave us several options since we were still deciding on which areas to complete, and was very informative and educational about the types of floors, areas to do, and installation process. The scheduling team and customer service reps were all very responsive and great communicators sending lots of emails and phone calls back and forth to finalize install details. The installers themselves arrived promptly actually 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled time and again were super informative about the pieces of wood including showing us color variations and intentionally putting those in backs of closets or under dishwasher or stove, etc as well as even went back in and pulled out a couple of pieces of wood that just didn't look quite right once down on the floor. They worked non-stop from 7:45am to 7pm trying hard to finish it in one day instead of two and even on day two which was needed because such a large area being done helped us put felt pads on all our furniture before moving everything back in and where it was supposed to be. They tolerated our dogs and children having to sneak through the work area periodically throughout the day for lunch and snacks and were very friendly. We really had a great experience with them and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to put down hardwood flooring.
As others have mentioned, we went with AWF because Lumber Liquidators reccommended them. So disappointed with the results that we are considering having the whole job redone by someone else. Initial installation May 2013 took much longer that predicated. Problem arose with in a few months and repairs were made in November 2013. New problems arose April 2014 and we are hesitant to even call them. They may be able to handle an ordinary job, but they were disasterous with a floating floor on concrete. Sales rep, multi installation crews and supervisors have been to our home for a 500 sq ft job. Buyer beware and shame on Lumber Liquidators for recommending them. I would avoid LL also for this reason.
I would never recommend the use of AWF All Wood flooring to install ANYONE's floor. We have had to re-do all the floor moulding as well as repair damage to walls and carpeting. We used AWF as Lumber Liquidators recommended them. They were more expensive than other contractors we received quotes from, but we assumed that since LL recommended them the job would be handled professionally and to a high standard. We are terribly disappointed with the installation of the flooring. Three weeks later, we are still fixing the mistakes the installer made.
Terrible!!! Terrible!!! Terrible!!! I have a 650sq ft. installation of bamboo hardwood that began in December of 2012 that is not completed as of May 2013. Numerous missed visits by sales representatives and installers. Installers have arrived and completed no work because they cannot repair the installation. Installers have arrived and pleaded with management that they cannot repair the installation and advise management that the installation was completed improperly and needs to be replaced. Management has visited my home and not been truthful about the installation and made accusations that were found to be absolutely incorrect. Sales representative arrives with installers to supervise work and I am later told by the installer that the sales rep was detained by police for driving on a suspended license as they left my home to purchase supplies from a big box home repair store. Installers have shown up with minors as helpers who are not employed by the company and are putting me at a legal liability by working in my home. Five months in, and the work is not complete. If you don't believe me, read the other reviews. This was a huge mistake on my part, and a lesson learned.
I can not praise the work AWF did for us highly enough. They were spectacular! Our team included Jonathan, Miguel and Evelyn. AWF was recommended by Lumber Liquidators. They installed the hardwood floors in our downstairs a few years and did a really nice job. Phase 2 of our project was removing carpet and subflooring in our master bedroom and sitting room, hallway, stairs and one other bedroom. When he removed the carpet on the first day, Jonathan, the team lead, realized that the subflooring they had was not safe to install in our floors with 24 inch OC joists Code is now 18 inches, but was 24 inches when the house was built in 1999. Rather than just replace the subflooring and install the hardwood on top as was originally contracted like a less ethical company would do, he stopped the project. We did some research on our own and found a subflooring product called AdvanTech that was actually rated for the 24 inch joists We purchased the AdvanTech from a building supply company nearby, printed the instructions from Huber Engineered Woods the company who makes it, and AWF installed it. They added lots of extra 2x4's to reinforce the joists as they required. Our floors look great! The project did take longer than we expected, but it was done right. We are extremely pleased with the crew, their work and our finished project.
We purchased flooring Brazilian Teak Hardwood from Lumber Liquidators and scheduled to have it installed. Our installers were from All Wood Flooring. We bought the floor and other needed materials about a year and a half ago and we were finally ready to install so we called out someone from AWF to go over everything with us to make sure we were prepared for the installation. The person was very nice and we felt like we had gone over everything and were ready. I took 2 days of vacation and so did my husband so we could be there during what they said would be a 3 day installation. So on the first day they were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 10am. They showed up closer to 11am. The 2 gentleman that showed up didn’t speak English very well and we felt there was a little bit of an language barrier, but they were very nice. As we started going over what we were having done, it seemed they didn’t really know the job very well. We were told by first person not to worry about bringing the flooring from the garage to the second floor. Which I questioned and we were told no that we didn’t have to bring it upstairs. The installers said that yes it should have been brought upstairs. They and my husband hurried to carry all 36 boxes upstairs. Plan was to rip old wood floor up and lay down new, but since we had rather high transitions from previous homeowner laying on top of existing floors they said we could lay down new floor over old. This would give us, with underlayment, a level floor from kitchen to hallway and from kitchen to living room. So they prepped floor, took up carpet and laid down plywood the first day. Friday morning, the second day, they arrived at 830am to start the installation. As soon as he tried to nail the starter piece he was having a hard time. He finally got it nailed down which showed nail holes even after you put shoe molding down, and then was attempting to nail the tongue and groove side. The nails curled up and bounced off. After several attempts he told us he couldn’t nail the floor down. That the wood was too hard. I’ve since learned that Cumaru is an exotic hardwood that can be nailed but you have to have the proper tools. We called the supervisor and they wanted to glue it down and told us we needed to buy $3000.00 worth of glue. We don’t have $3000 to spend on glue. We told them that was not an option. So we were basically stuck… the installers packed up and left my house at about 1030am unfinished and left us not knowing what to do. I ended up calling a relative in the business that day and he told me that the floor can be nailed with proper gun and nails. So we are going with his installer who has put down Cumaru many times and the job should start next week. Meanwhile we had to pay the previous installers $600.00 out of our deposit. I lost 2 days of vacation and my house is a mess. These people they sent out were clueless about the kind of floor we had, surprising considering he told me he had been in the business 14 years and the kind of floor was listed on the estimate. Needless to say we were very disappointed. I guess after reading other reviewers I am happy they did not install and we are now going with an experienced installer. I think we will have a much better outcome. Also our install priced has dropped by almost $2000.00...
Enjoyed the experience. Had simple job and it went really well, so well, we decided to do our rivah house of over 1200 sq ft. All Wood worked with us on choices and even suggested ways to save money and afford more. Having an employee at Lumber Liquidators is real perk. David I. was great.
All Wood Floring responded to all of our questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner prior to final payment. Now we have an issue post-installation and after we submitted full payment - and it's as if we're dealing with a totally different company. They are now very slow to respond to e-mails. I'm currently "DISLIKING IT" and on the verge of "HATING IT". We'll see if the issues are resolved and how it's dealt with by the company. To be continued...
