Almeida's Shotokan Karate School

Hands down the best karate dojo! Our daughter has been a student here for almost 4 years & loves it! She has absolutely flourished as a martial arts student. Also the discipline & hard working attitude she has learned at Almeida's has translated into everything else she does. Most importantly is the fact that this a family run business & the Almeidas as caring people who want the best the kids that go there. They are there to lift the kids up when they are down & cheer then on when they succeed. I wouldnt even think about bringing Julia to a different dojo.

I started as a student in 1978 under Kancho John then Sensei he was a strong influence in my development as a young girl then into my teens. He showed me a girl could be tough and strong and stand up to any male. He taught me to work hard and strive for my personal best. That has stayed with me along with many other lessons. Now I'm 55, a grandmother and my 6yr old grandson is starting training. I myself am going to start training again as well. This Dojo and the commitment of the instructors is of the highest honor to Karate and the commitment of teaching an art and values that remain with you through life. My daughter Julia has been a student here since November 2019 and the Almeida family do an overall incredible job with the kids. Sensei John is an awesome instructor. He his patient with the kids and his style of teaching is really easy for the kids to understand. Julia is 6 and I coach her soccer team so I know the challenges involved in teaching kids a sport so I know a good coach when I see one. Julia has come very far in a short amount of time time even winning 2 trophies in her first tournament. That is all thanx to Sensei John and Sensei Theresa. This is a family run business and the Almeida's treat the kids like family. Mrs Almeida is like a grandmother to all of them. Hanshi John Almeida is also very involved in the operation and is also great with the kids. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a first class Karate Dojo where they not only teach your kids but actually care about there overall development as a person. julias behavior and overall attitude have also come a long way since coming here. You will not find a better Karate instructor ANYWHERE, Guaranteed. 1 About half the price of his competition 2 Kids and adults really learn how to defend themselves, not just fake through 3 Most respected instructor by his peers and Nationally I have ever met 4 Multiple time National Champ when that mattered 5 Mix of Shotokan and street practical self defense 6 While the focus is Shotokan, Sensei Almeida is well rounded in Kickboxing, Aikido, jujitsu, Judo and a mix of other karates Uechi and Kyokushin which is shared with the students. 7 He is a 9th degree Black-belt in Karate, received his 8th directly from Okinawa. Once you join you are treated like family. I personally looked at about a dozen places before settling in and have been with his organization for 30 years.

Once Upon a Time I had the best sensei in the world his name was Richard hacking he was my mentor and my friend and a great teacher of Shotokan . He always talked highly of you so that means something to me not everybody can say that so it feels good to know that schools like yours are still around and teachers like you still around and have been doing it for so long and if I didn't live so far away my kids would be going to your school without ever stepping foot in it or meeting you I can still say that it's a no-brainer thank you for all you do sensei
