I was glad this classic Italian restaurant open. The pictures of local Italian families on the wall, the traditional recipes and dishes and I especially like the Italian salad with oranges. But I just wasn't wowed by my experience there seemed kind of run down my pasta was too large a portion of rigatoni and pepperoni seemed thrown in as an afterthought also some other low grade sausage? The service was friendly but a bit too casual and I thought the prices high for the lack of polish and panache. This place needs some sort of facelift not sure what the table cloths faded the space very small and even though we only two customers there it felt crowded. Too many tables in a little space. My fellow diner said his sandwich was so so. But our salads were excellent. I might go next time just for salad. They had a large wine selection but I rarely drink. It's a good place and lots of character but not impressive.
Wonderful food and staff. My wife and I were able to enjoy a meal with little to no distractions. Altony's has a drive-thru window for pickup orders; which keeps the inside less noisey. We tried Bruschetta and the spicy Alfredo, but we added chicken. Would recommend this place again.
If you want a quaint, simple, and pleasant Italian dinner w/out all the show, try Altony's. Olive Garden may be mainstream, but this spot flies under the radar. The Italian salad no croutons was tasty, thanks in part to some surprise orange bites. Both the seafood Alfredo and creamy Alfredo we're served quickly and hot with large portions and we're delicious. Bottomless coffee, if that's your thing, is on the menu, and there's plenty of parking outside. Prices are neither exorbitant nor cheap.
I had a weird feeling when I read the hand written note on the door telling us that due to rising food cost, there would be 10% added to our check. I didn't read the small sign. When leaving I did. It stated that there was no cash welcome on tickets over $20. The server, Ken Was friendly and attentive. We were the only table there for most of our meal. The food came out fast and was decent. My issues came with the check. I just gave them my card as I usually do. When they came back with the cc slip is when my frustration started. I was charged $3.30 for a "non cash payment". This is why I read the small sign on the door when I left, thinking it said there would be a charge for "non cash payment". But at no time in the experience was there mention of this ecmxtra charge. I also realized I got charged for the sodas that were supposed to come with the kids meals. I understand that places are struggling. But just added charges to the bill is not how you get people to come back. Instead of adding 10% to the ticket, print some beware menus. The ones you have need to be replaced anyways. I used to love altony's. But after this I won't be back.
We got takeout as we didn't have time to sit down in the restaurant. Great food- delicious and big portions. Friendly staff and met the new owner. Seems like a nice guy and wish him and his staff all the best!Food: 5/5
They've moved but the food and service haven't changed. Still exceptional service and great food! Was surprised when I realized they have a drive-through now. Good to know for future reference. I chose to upgrade the salad with my meal to a Ceasar Salad and the dressing was the perfect amount. My husband ordered the soup and steak medallion appetizer and loved both. I had the Shrimp Arrabbiata, spicy deliciousness. I chose Penne pasta and Alfredo sauce with my dish. The creamy goodness perfectly complimented the red peppers and the shrimp. Plus the portion is huge! I have lunch for tomorrow. My husband had their lasagna, which is also a really big portion.
The food is terrific, especially their house soup. The server was courteous and attentive, without hovering. Value for money: can't be beat! Nice selection of Italian dishes and a fine wine list of Italian, German, American, and Australian vintages. Altogether, an exceptional meal!Food: 5/5
Mac and cheese, out. Spinach and artichoke dip, out. Tuscany pork chop, not out but we were told "they're moldy". First wine choice, out. They'll charge you an extra fee for 'rising food costs' and for using a card instead of paying cash. One of us got a penne pasta with marinara dish. It was 95% marinara sauce, 5% noodle. Literally enough sauce for two more meals. Overall it just was not a great experience. First and last visit, unfortunately.
Customer Service is Fantastic! The Articoke and Spinach dip was Delicious! The bread was buttered and nice. As a Vegitarian, I ordered mushroom stuffed Ravioli and enjoyed it. My Mother has cheese stuffed Ravioli and tried both sauces, she preferred the white sauce. My husband has a new favorite Italian Salad in this place, with the tangy orange chucks, which came with his House Lasagna. He ordered the Full House Lasagna and is bringing half home for lunch tomorrow. He gives the Lasagna a 9 out of 10! He enjoyed the meatiness and loved the sauce. The free frozen desserts are the greatest compliment to the end of the meal. We will return!
The waiter sat us and said they were short staffed and busy however there were only 5 other tables occupied. The seats were sticky. Although the waiter was very kind and sweet, he forgot our calamari, water refills, bread, and ketchup. We all ordered water but then were told the kids meals come with a drink. We were charged an additional $1 for a kids drink. The food tasted cheap and pre frozen. The bill was $60 for 2 adults and 2 kids including $6 for inflation purposes and $3 for paying with a credit card. I honestly was baffled and frustrated by the whole experience and will not be returning.
