I mistakenly purchased a bottle of Gordon's Gin instead of Gordon's Vodka, they were side by side on the bottom shelf. Once I got home and realized what I had done, and had the time to go back, I returned and asked to simply exchange the gin for the vodka and would willingly pay the difference as it was my fault. I was told my the female store manager that it was illegal to exchange and/or return an unopened bottle of alcohol in the State of Texas. THAT IS A BLATANT LIE! Upon returning home, I called and asked a knowledgeable person, who manages a large wholesale company in my home town who informed me that IT WAS LEGAL to return and/or exchange an unopened bottle of alcohol. It can be returned for a credit and/or it could be considered a "Consignment Sale". Whatever the case, it would be good to better the customer service and relationship instead of running a returning customer off for life!. This WAS a good little mom and pop store that I waited to do business with instead of buying from my larger stores at home. I do not like being lied to and really get aggravated when I catch someone doing so. I will NEVER enter this store again and will tell this story to anyone planning to go. Doing this in a small town to a local and existing customer over $19.00 is simply uncalled for and inappropriate. If a person does not know the law, then say so and explain or come up with a better story than that...AND still lie to a customer. But to just sit in a chair, not even get up to speak to a customer face to face and then lie to a person is simply poor business and a great way to lose a business. It's their loss..."KNOT" mine!
