I have NEVER had a problem with APD! They are polite and respectful even when I was wrong! I received my correction, wished the officer a safe and wonderful day and was on my way. I respect and appreciate all you do for our community! Prayers for safety always!
I was involved in a car accident last month and the officer that came to the scene wrote up the report and he put the wrong vin# on the paperwork. So now I'm trying to get an updated version of that report so the insurance company will pay for my vehicle. Went Thursday to tell them that I needed the report fixed and when I called Saturday they said it was ready so I go get it and look at it and it's the same freaking report. So now I have to go back up there Monday to request it again. And while I was at the accident the officer never volunteered to tell me the name of the girl or who her insurance company was who hit us so I could start a claim. Finally after 4 days later when I was able to get the report I filed the claim. It took us that long to get a rental car also. We had no vehicle for 5 day's. I feel like that was wrong on the officers part not to share that info with me so I could have filed my claim the day of the accident. Needless to say I am not at all happy with the Amarillo Police Department. I will probably put a complaint against them.
My opinion changed when I did a minor class a misdemeanor of shooting a gun. These guys could've nailed me butt good. They kept me out of jail and Big Mack was very polite and thanks officer Heath for keeping your finger off the trigger but weapon drawn in a non threatening manner even when I reached into my pocket to throw my phone aside. Thanks for offering me a job after I get out of the Marine corps.
They make me embarassed to live in Amarillo. I spoke to a woman on the phone yesterday that hung up on me, when I was asking what I could do after someone hit my car then sped off 90 miles an hour. She told me to hire an attorney, then said she had other calls to take and hung up on me. What a disgusting excuse for a police department. As someone who formerly respected the poilce as leaders in the community, I can tell you now, you are better solving your own problems. Have you seen our police force? 90% are obese. I see 2 cop cars every time I pass a Whataburger or Chicken Express. Are we merely funding their clogged arteries with our tax money? How pathetic. I wish no ill on our officers. However, maybe it's time to raise the bar on every uneducated person you hire to answer the phones, as well as our watermelon shaped police officers. Why not take pride in your job? Why not hire people that positively represent your department? Treat others with empathy for the love of God. I've been born and raised in this town, and this is the greatest shame of the city.
I wanted to commend officer D. Clark, #1661 for his kindness and compassion when I got into a fender bender at Amarillo Blvd and Plum Creek. He was very professional and a gentleman. I applaud APD for turning out such fine officers. I live in Potter County and our Sheriff's Dept is one of the best and I'm happy to see that APD is as well. Thank you.
I called to ask for information regarding an accident that happened in a parking lot. The person who answered for the APD, who is paid with public taxpayer funds yours and mine, was short and rude - cutting me off and basically hanging up on me. She has no business being the point of contact for the public, her employer, and is obviously not skilled or capable of conducting business on behalf of the department. She misquoted the law regarding the accident and would not provide assistance in directing me to someone who knew the law. She sided with the person who hit and run my vehicle and was no help to me, the victim. It’s people and incidents like this that turn the culture and sentiment against the good people at the department - what a shame.
I had a car accident this Summer. No one was seriously injured but my car was damaged enough to be totalled. Called the police because that's what you are supposed to do after an accident. After nearly 2 hours of waiting a cop shows up and acts like "what did you call me for". Was told if no one has to go to the hospital and the cars are able to get out of the road there is no reason to call the police. Thanks to them refusing to do an accident report it was my word against the other driver. It was 100℅ the other person's fault but of course they start lying and shifting blame. I had to hire an attorney and I'm still fighting with the insurance company. This is why you do a police report, so people don't have to go through things like this.
During the worst 30 minutes of my life today, the 5 officers that responded to our emergency were not only professional and curtious, but they managed to keep me calm nd nd focused on the task at hand!!! My son was found in a matter of minutes! Thanks be to God and these officers. I literally owe them my life!!!
I live across from a bunch of drug heads, and have witnessed multiple illegal things. Such as the man beating on different women, bringing stolen stuff in and out, and drug dealing. The whole neighborhood has problems with them. They've stolen from me and have been caught sneaking around in my back yard and in the ally. As any normal person would, I call the cops. They never do anything, they are always smart asses and rude and very unhelpful. I know not every police man and woman in this department are awful, but the ones I have had to deal with are lazy, rude and just plain stupid. I respect the men and women in blue, but A.P.D. seriously needs to get take a closer look at some of the idiots they have in their employment that give all their other police officers terrible reputations.
I'm glad no one has personally asked for my appinion because it wouldn't be good. I feel for the people out there that the APD has treated poorly and hasn't helped one bit. I know how you all feel and it's not good. Keep your head up and eyes open. We will deal with whatever lies ahead.
