Our family has worked with both of the therapists, Lauren King and Susan Dunaway, at Amend Neurocounseling. My 18 yr. old daughter has suffered with depression, anxiety, ADD, self-harm, and suicidal tendencies. She has been working with Lauren for 2.5 yrs. with great success. The self-harm and suicide issues are gone. Her depression, anxiety and ADD have been greatly improved with talk therapy and neurofeedback. My 11 yr. old son recently started neurofeedback with Susan and within a few weeks, we have seen significant improvement in his mental processing and focus issues. These women truly listen to and care for their clients. They give hope in situations that feel overwhelming and hopeless.
Lauren King Mason is the best neuro feedback expert in Kansas City. I have worked with others as well. After a brain injury, I experienced word loss, getting lost, depression, dizziness and short tempered outbursts. My sessions with Lauren King Mason were the only strategy that relieved these symptoms. The process is painless... it is not introducing electricity into your brain! It is merely tracking progress and rewarding dings while watching videos .., concentrating while your brain retrains itself. I liken it to GPS and rerouting around a traffic detour. Ding ding ding you have arrived at your destination! Lauren has a special affinity for this system because she used it to retrain her own brain following a car accident. Lauren is wonderfully kind, insightful and non-judgmental. During the segment of my neurofeedback where I was allowed to speak, I also benefited greatly from talk therapy with her. After my accident I had tried so many other things that did not work. I was afraid my brain was stuck and I would have to live with my disabilities. Neurofeedback with Lauren King Mason fixed my brain and gave me my life back.
Both my kids have received Neurofeedback from Susan Dunaway at Amend Neurocounseling. The results for my oldest son have been outstanding! He is off all medications and has become an A/B student in high school. We are so happy with his results we have started our younger son on Neurofeedback as well. He is seeing great results in a short amount of time. I highly recommend Amend Neurocounseling of Overland Park, KS.
