I went to the Academy for a Special Day with my granddaughters. We always do do a fun day together when I’m in town from Green Bay Wisconsin. The girls at the Academy are amazing. They are very sweet, but most of all professional. We were a group ranging in age from 69, 16, 13, 12 and 7 all wanting A Pedicure and Manicure. We are thrilled with the service we received. A special thank you to their instructor, Miss Dena. She can be proud of her team. We will definitely come back in August when I’m back in town.
Came in last week for the first time with my son for a haircut. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by smiling faces, very welcoming. Next this young man came to get my son for his appointment his name was Artist. Sitting back and watching him take his time making sure everything was done right consulting with the teacher and them both cutting my sons hair was great. The way the teacher explained things to the student and showed him was awesome to observe. I was very pleased with his haircut and the overall learning atmosphere as I sat patiently observing. We will definitely be coming back!! Thank you all!
I was denied services because I've used box dye in the past. Whatever. But how are your students going to know what to do when they are in the real world and a client comes in. I've not put box dye on my hair in over 10 months. They consider that a color correction. That's not a correction there was no correction needed. I only wanted highlights. That's why there are salons in the world where you can walk in and get it done. The learning ground you provide is robbing your students. I've never been told this. I have about as normal flat hair as you can get. My hair couldn't be any easier to do. The learning ground you provided is not enriched with real life. Your students are being robbed of their time and money. As long as the test is just painting each other's nails and doing each others hair they should all do well.
Took my mom for a wash and cut and Ke’ja was amazing. She was actually training as a barber but I was very impressed with her manner and professionalism. My mom absolutely adored her and wanted another appointment for highlights, which we will be doing later this week. All the staff was very friendly and supportive of Ke’ja as she cut my moms hair, it was a first for her doing my moms hair type. My mom is very happy with her hair and Ke’ja, we will definitely continue to support the Academy
I wish I wouldn't have waisted my time energy and money I'm a licensed stylist for 15 years. I enjoy doing men's hair and had the opportunity to go back and get my barber license 300 hours not that bad yes, NOT!! First week my instructor wouldn't talk to me I tried going and handling the situation quietly, hay how do I talk with my instructor.. I was put into an office with the person in question I felt betrayed,angry, and humiliated. I apologize for that and I shouldn't have I didn't do anything wrong I was treated like I was nothing. okay move forward. Okay kept my head down and figure I would learn something I wanted to learn razor skills because that's part of barbering I didn't learn nothing on the floor.. okay I'm 85 hours in now and OMG it gets worse I was bullied on the floor and not protected by my instructor..the the next day we had a fill in in Instructor the next day and playing highschool mean girls games I went and try to talk to the people in the front office about everything and then I was bullied again..it's to the point I'm going to get legal representation I'm 49 years old and it's is some back roads highschool game's please please don't go to this school..and if you do document everything..and other students message me if you had problems and I will definitely guide us on what we should do for class action
The AMERICAN ACADEMY STAFF and Manager has been most GRACIOUS and PROFESSIONAL on my SPA DAY. THEIR overall performance is A+. Thanks

Stop!!! Before you apply as a student to this school or try to gain employment make sure you read the reviews. This school has a toxic environment with some staff and students. Some students complain about not having having stable instructor but belittle and gossip about the instructors once the do get one. If some of the students don't like you they will frequently complain to the director about you especially when you enforce the rules. Some of the staff will gossip about you if they don't feel that you are a strong teacher or that you're standoffish. The teachers that have been grandfathered in run the show it seems like they train you to be one way on the floor but also contradict themselves when they tell you to follow the rules of the establishment. If you become a student here it is a great School once they find teachers that will be consistent and follow the rules and making sure that you're doing what you know you're supposed to be doing because you have documentation that you sign to be following the rules. Students should be willing to learn from the instructors not give them an attitude on a regular basis. I hope whoever becomes an instructor here and survives I wish them well that means you made it.
These people will either not pick up the phone when you try to call them or will hang up in your face when they try to “transfer” you. Completely unprofessional and a waste of my time.
