The American International School of Medicine (AISM) is a private medical school with its main Campus in Georgetown, Guyana. Graduates obtain a Medical Doctorate upon completion of the four year medical program.
AISM was established in 1999 by International Medical Educators Associates, Inc. (IMEA) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, headed by Dr. Colin A. Wilkinson. The establishment of AISM in Guyana was approved by the Cabinet of the Government of Guyana on October 19, 1999. The first batch of students was admitted in January 2000. Since then, AISM has graduated over 350 physicians who are working in Guyana, U.K., USA, Grenada, Trinidad, Pakistan, Tanzania and other countries.

Providing a basic science and clinical medicine curriculum that is modeled to incorporate the best feature of academic and clinical instruction of the ACGME (Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education) of the United States.
Preparing students to pass the US Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) and the Clinical Skills Assessment examination via the Educational Committee for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for licensure.
Establishing a field-based learning environment as an integral part of the training program that emphasizes social involvement in the local community by rendering medical and social services.
Establishing a primary care medical center, involvement in research and assisting in local hospitals, clinics, schools and other institutions.
