The Amistad Research Center is the nation's largest independent archives specializing in the history of African Americans and other ethnic groups.
The Amistad Research Center is located at 6823 St. Charles Avenue in the Audubon neighborhood of New Orleans’ Uptown district. The Center is housed in Tilton Memorial Hall on the campus of Tulane University. Situated on the St. Charles streetcar line, Amistad is just a few minutes from numerous restaurants in the Riverbend/Carrollton area, and is easily accessible from downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter.
Parking is limited on the Tulane University campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods. Visitors can choose to pay to park on the ground level of the Diboll Complex, or they may choose to park for free at the nearby University Square (200 Broadway St.) during the day and ride a free shuttle to the central part of campus. The shuttle service operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 A.M.-6:00 P.M. and runs approximately every twenty minutes.
Parking on St. Charles Avenue within the boundaries of Audubon Park is free. Otherwise, parking along St. Charles and side streets is limited to two hours.
