An important historic landmark, telltale of things past, the Yonkers Station is a very busy station as it also serves as a hub for AMTRAK and I recommend seriously being very aware of your sorroundings. Whether entering or exiting the station on your way to and from the platforms, the stairs are quite steep and not terribly well lit. I did not noticed any surveillance equipment. There are elevators but use your common sense getting into them. Otherwise, the platforms are relatively clean considering... and they have Departure Boards, soda/snacks vending machines etc.
The station is a hub for suburban commuter and intercity services, and it offers easy access to New York City and the surrounding areas. The architecture of the station is impressive, and the restoration efforts have done an semi-decent job of maintaining the historic charm of the building. However, due to the population growth of the surrounding neighborhoods, the station is in need of an expansion. The current station does not provide enough space to accommodate the number of commuters, and the parking spaces are far from the station making it inconvenient for drivers. An expansion of the station would be highly beneficial to the community and would improve the overall commuting experience. Despite the need for expansion, the Yonkers Train Station remains a critical transportation hub, and it offers a convenient and reliable way to travel to and from the city.
Convenient location for me, right by friends' locations. I travel into NY by plane and am carting around a double guitar case with a small suitcase strapped to that plus a backpack so easy access for me to the second level via the elevator. Relatively clean as far as NY train stations go. I'm usually taking this line down to Grand Central to connect with airport shuttles on Lexington and it couldn't be a smoother process. Get the MTA apps and it's all a cake walk.
Clean with beautiful architecture and views of the river. Whould be nice if the waiting areas wasn't locked.... or if ther were benches. Elevator to the platform. Some interesting plaques to read if you have sone time... abd a local pamphlet Rack of tourist materials. Now about that elevator....
My home town!!! Been here all my life...
Yonkers Railroad Station is on the mark. The only thing that needs is an upgrade to a 24 hour police and security watch on the premises, expand arrival and departure boards at the waiting area, fresh clean restroom needed as well and convert it to a transit center. Because anything is possible to make things better and easier at this station. And one more thing if this station can expand the waiting area and clerk-booth at all times around the clock, that will be great.
Platforms look nice. Has electronic trains schedules that are color coded. Metro North Green. Amtrak Blue. Shows track that trains stopping, Destinations and Status. Very helpful. There is also a board with the full train schedules. Waiting areas have roof and there are also three inclosed areas for really bad weather. Very helpful :-
The station is close to the estuary. It's nice here but no restrooms available.
Great station to travel between NYC and Yonkers, Better to get to during the day with public transportation than at night time. Has vending machines and the platforms are clean. Even if you can't catch a bus at night, there are plenty of cabs and the station is Uber friendly. Station is very well kept and has parking.
Easy to navigate through. There are currently no restrooms at this location.
