An Octopus' Garden Cafe

About

Our menu is created around local produce. We offer an outside patio, kids play area, free internet, live music, beer, wine and liquor, a gallery of local art, locally roasted fair trade coffee and espresso, and organic veggies for sale from our own farm.

Description

Welcome to Octopus’ Garden! Can you tell we’re Beatles fans? We certainly are, and much like the song says “We would sing and dance around because we know we can’t be found!” Singing, dancing and music are just part of what awaits you in our garden. Here’s the rest of the story:

We take care to specialize in fresh, local, high-quality food - served to you at affordable prices. Our cheese, meat, bread, eggs, milk, butter, hot sauces, honey, tea, jams, and maple syrup are all sourced from local producers. We serve fresh-roasted, organic, fair trade coffee and espresso. Most of our organically grown fruit and vegetables are right from our own farm.

We sell produce! Yes that’s right, if you need some produce to bring back with you, we will sell you the produce grown right from our own farm (just a few miles away). Our seasonal fruits and vegetables are grown year-round, using organic farming methods. Even our water hoses are free from harmful chemicals! Now it doesn’t get any fresher than that!

We encourage you to unwind with your choice of locally produced beer and wine on our beautiful outdoor patio next to the babbling Cleveland Brook.

Spend some time upstairs browsing our Glass Roots studio where we sell our beautifully blown glass pieces as well as works from other local artists. They are all truly one-of-kind and unique artistic creations.

Have the kids with you? Great! Kids love the indoor play area – perfect for those rainy days. We also offer lots of great books and boardgames for all ages to read and play while you are relaxing.

Need to find out what’s happening outside of the Garden? We have you covered with free wireless internet. We even have a complimentary computer for you to use – free of course!

Special events hosted at An Octopus' Garden Cafe:

• The Friday Night Garden Party Jam - Every Friday evening at 7 PM, local musicians gather to play music in an informal setting. If you’ve ever experienced an ‘East Coast Kitchen Party’ then you’ll know exactly what goes on in the Garden on Friday nights. Come to play, listen, dance, meet new friends or see familiar faces...this is always a fun night.

• Concert Series – Our concert series has been steadily growing year after year. We are expecting another year of amazing concerts by local and touring artists. Please visit our events calendar to see who’s coming soon.

First time dining here for lunch and it was excellent! Great service and the food was delicious! We had the vegan burrito bowl and spicy ramen which were flawless. For dessert we had the lemon square and zucchini chocolate cake which was moist and delicious. So glad we tried it out and we’ll definitely be back again! A solid 4.5/5 stars.
Amazing cappuccino, incredible meals scallops!!!!, freshly made key lime pie, wonderful environment, and to top it- great staff. Shannon was so kind and sweet. We decided to come back for dinner. One of the best restaurants ever!!! This is from a Toronto girl … don’t forget to get the cappuccino
Best place for breakfast in Alma. The ultimate breakfast sandwich and egg sandwiches were fresh and delicious, as were their baked goods croissant especially. Great coffee and tea selection with soy and almond milk substitutions available. Has a nice patio and free wifi too. All the staff were extremely friendly.
This was simply the best food we have eaten. The shrimp pasta, ribeye, and fresh scallops were amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
The best food we have had I trip to maine and New Brunswick. All of our dishes were fresh and flavorful. My wife and had lobster in our dishes and it was fresh and tasty. All four us had dessert and they were all good. The chocolate cake was excellent. Service was friendly and welcoming. It isn't a touristy place and is pretty low key. A very pleasant surprise and a relaxing experience!
WOW! This place was recommended to us by a clerk at a brewery/coffee shop down the road. Service was 100000/10. Warm, friendly, generous and even gave us the leftover smoothie after we ordered one! Food was amazing. Salad was crisp; fresh tasting and perfectly complemented by a house made dressing. BLT was full of local bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. Everything about this place was amazing!!! I only regret not ordering the thaïe curry seafood chowder. Next time I will bring a buddy to help me eat it.
A fantastic place for small treats and beverages or full meals. The pasta is homemade and flavourful. We’ll worth checking out!
Food was excellent and yummy - service very attentive and friendly. I rate only as 3 stars as the price is extremely high. We paid close to 150$ for a one course meal with wine. So good quality and service is to be expected. Mostly the lobster pasta with only a bit of lobster in it felt overpriced. We had a nice dinner experience.
Lovely little restaurant. The service was fabulous. The food was very nice. The Thai chowder was really good, though we found the portion small. It is $45 for a portion for 4 people. The seafood was cooked perfectly but as four adults we all agreed it was a very small division - very tasty but very small. Probably better for two people to split but then it is quite pricey. The fresh pasta was very nice, the kids had kids pasta and we tried the scallop pasta - very nice. The mussels were good, but by the end we noticed very salty. We loved the cappuccino and biscotti to go. Overall a bit pricey but high quality food.
Plain simple decor that is typical of a small town so expect "quaint" but the food quality is amazing, they really got some great chefs for presentation and meal quality. Friendly service. Everyone was happy with their meals and great beer on tap! I had seafood red curry soup dish and tasted amazing and generous amount of seafood. I would go back here again.
