Ananda Mandir

About

At Ananda Mandir the focus is on preserving and fostering the religious, educational and socio-cultural activities of the Bengali community in USA

"With limited funds but unlimited hope, leading members of the Bengali community in New Jersey got together in 1995 and incorporated Ananda Mandir as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Following intensive efforts to locate a property that could accommodate a Temple as well as a Community Center, Ananda Mandir purchased a 7.5 acre property in December, 1997. At that time, the property included a 2800 sq. ft., 6-year old ranch-style building and two additional usable structures.Ananda Mandir became debt-free in 2001 and began a serious effort to obtain Township permits for a Hindu Temple on the site. We received Construction Permit in November, 2002 – and we celebrated Temple ground breaking with Bhumi Puja on December 7, 2002."

This is very nice and quiet place, haven't seen to many temples that presents with such an environment. Could be due the fact that we were there early at 5:30 pm and there were very few people around. Don't know if they offer Archana.
Came here for a concert and it has an amazingggggg auditorium .. well litted and big hall. Lots and lots of parking … sounded good with amazing acoustics .. temple itself is small. I liked the sanctity inside the temple .. peaceful … liked the temple architecture from outside .
The management seems to be confused about what a “mandir” should be. Charging people $75 just for darshan not including puja/archana during Durga puja sounds more like a profitable business than a non-profit temple. Fine to charge for food/cultural show, but restricting access to puja with is just wrong.
Nice Hindu Bengali temple, maa Kali is so pretty, peaceful place and they have huge parking lot
It's very good Hindu temple. All Hindu puja specially Bengali culture related Puja are celebrating Very beautifully and religiously . The have ample car parking which help during festivals. They recently built new temple and community hall . They are more money oriented . Before Covid at least they allow to visit temple to darshan at the time durga/ kali .. but now it’s like give money at least $$ then will see good . Charging money for food acceptable but charging money for only visit temple for during biggest Bengali festival .. they looks like private organizations not temple or non profit organizations.
Loved the atmosphere and the people. We visited during the Durga pooja so it was extra special for us
That man with a clean head maybe the priest of Ananda Mandir must know how to behave with the visitors. I have never seen such rude behavior in the temple. There are many good Hindu temples nearby, do not waste your time here unless you want to get a bad experience.
I am a regular visitor to Ananda Mandir and it provides me inner peace. The priest of the temple is very courteous & cordial. However it is the management and the way they conduct festivals sucks!!! I know there are few members who are very nice people however the position holders just seem to care about MONEY MONEY MONEY. During festivals, Anand Mandir only allows people inside temple who pre-register after giving $$. Why? Because they want to have an exact count of people visiting so that food can be prepared accordingly. It is fine but there are so many people who just want to visit temple & take blessings. Why is food imposed? Looking for donations is important but forcing people to donate and not allow them inside without donation is a sin. My friends say it's not a temple but a club and I don't disagree with them.
Be aware, they will run behind you for donations and will insist you to give some donations. They will make you feel that you have to donate to go inside the temple. I have this pathetic experience when me and my wife visited on Vijayadashami. I did not know that else I wouldn’t go there. I did not have this experience anywhere.
nice mandir with lots of deities for hindu bengali community but Biswa Bhai is v arrogant n rude when it comes to services and is unresponsive and he agrees to provide for services to those families who are influential and resourceful - very conveniently he refuses the services -specially the funeral services he is very choosy and conveniently refuses .....disrespecting the Oath he took when he attained the vedic studies......he has refused to do funeral services to several families and has accumulated bad karma and ill wishes......
