Born and raised in the west side of the country, this was the oldest cemetery I have ever been to. Such a cool piece of history preserved in the middle of the city.
Graves really need to be more attended to. Some pieces of headstones are just randomly to the side, broken. Otherwise, absolutely beautiful, peaceful cemetery. My 12th great grandfather, George Wylls is buried here.
The tour was excellently informative; there was a great crowd & even the weather cooperated!!! The only down side was the noise from the parking garage. But I brought the book by Mr. Richard Ross, III and I can't wait to read it. I would definitely attend another guided tour of the Ancient Burying Ground!!!
Such as amazing opportunity to step into our past.
One of my favorite cemeteries in the state. Lots of old graves with some really interesting inscriptions. Too bad about the graffiti though. It's a great place for a quick stroll during lunch.
Very interesting but we couldn't locate a specific burial plot. Because the age of the stones made them hard or impossible to read, it would have been very helpful to have a map of the burial plots.
Pretty cool. But it was actually closed when we got there. It was possible to still see from the fence. We’ll kept place. Will try and go back.
To imagine that these people were running around almost 400 years ago is crazy. How well some the gravestones are preserved is spectacular.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This is an amazing piece of history right in the center of town. We found graves of many of our ancestors. What a surreal experience!
The largest collection of 17th Century graves I've seen anywhere in New England. Includes the graves of colonial governors, Minister of the first church in CT, and others of historical note.
