Ancient Origin Furnishing is a local business based out of the coastal Pacific Northwestern region of California. Our attempt is to make stylish and functional home furnishings from salvaged, old growth redwood lumber found in local Humboldt County barns and buildings. Lumber for each piece of furniture is selected for its individual qualities from its weathered look, nail holes, bolt holes, nicks and burn marks. Due to the individual characteristics of each piece, exact duplication is impossible making every project one of a kind. We will consider any custom requests.
The old growth redwood logging era has come to an end with only 3% of the worlds ancient redwood forests remaining. OG redwood, which is know for its its deep red or chocolate coloring, tight grain pattern and resistance to rot and insects, can only be found in existing structures and salvaged logs that fell as trees 100 years ago. All wood used in our projects is 500 to 3000 years old and has had 50 to 100 years to cure.
