1. Boarding Reservations: Pet boarding is done by reservation only, over the phone or in person as we need to be able to ask questions about your pet. Reservations are NOT taken over the internet, by fax, or by email.
2. Office hours: Please note the office hours listed. We are always closed on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. Office hours may change over holidays. Please call the office for more information.
3. Pet Care: We are committed to providing the best possible care for your pet. In addition to dogs and cats, we also care for birds and small mammals. However, Animal Inn is not staffed for skilled veterinary care and may not be able to handle geriatric pets or pets needing significant special care. If you have a pet with special needs, please be sure to check with our staff before bringing your pet to ensure we can accommodate your particular circumstance.
4. Shot Record Policy: We require annual Rabies/DHLP/Parvo for dogs 3 years and under and every 3 years for dogs older than 3 years of age. We also require a YEARLY Bordatella/Parainfluenza vaccine to provide protection against some very common and contagious varieties of canine cough. We require a yearly Rabies/Respiratory/Distemper shot for all cats. If your vet recommends additional immunizations or greater frequency, please follow their advice.
5. Feeding/Medication: Dogs are fed once a day between 4pm and 5pm. Fresh water is always available in their runs. Puppies under 6 months of age are fed 2 times per day. We do suggest that you bring your own puppy food, as they need to stay on a puppy diet. We will take instructions upon check-in. Dogs on prescription diets can be fed up to 2 times per day upon request. We provide IAMS Lamb and Rice dry dog food and IAMS Chicken dry cat food as part of the boarding fee but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring the appropriate amount for the time your dog/cat will be staying. Cats are provided with food and water at all times throughout the day.
6. Exotics: Birds and Small Mammals must be supplied with an appropriate enclosure, as well as their own food and bedding. Cost for boarding depends on the size of the cage and the amount of care required.
7. Pest Control: We flea-dip our dogs upon entry in a water based solution that dries on the coat. If there are reasons that your dog cannot be dipped, you may bring Advantage or Frontline as an alternative and apply it on in the office at the time of check-in. Cats are de-fleaed as necessary. Please let us know if your dog/cat has fleas or ticks upon entry.
8. Grooming: Grooming is by appointment only. Our grooming services consist of bathing, dipping, haircuts, nail trimming, etc. We groom pets that are boarding as well as dogs that are brought in to us. Around major holidays, we may have limited space available so be sure to set your grooming appointment ahead of time.
9. What goes on after hours: Good pet care comes from having excellent people and excellent facilities. Maintaining the quality of pet care we strive for is the result of endless effort on the part of numerous people. Pet care personnel are on the property 24 hours a day. Those who live on the property are responsible for checking on the pets in the evening. They let the dogs out between 8pm and 10pm each evening, check their bedding and water bowls, then close them in for the night. Cats and other pets are checked at that time as well.
10. After Hours Check-in/Check-out: This is NOT DONE at Animal Inn, so please don't ask the staff to come in early or stay late. Late transactions disrupt the pet care routine and adversely affect every pet here, as well as the staff and the people who live on the premises. Our normal office hours provide ample opportunity for pet check in and check out.
11. Checking on your pet while you are away: We have an 800 number that you may use only within the US to check on your pet or to tell us of any changes in your plans. Please feel free to use this number while you are out of town. The number is (800) 688-PETM or (800) 688-7386.
