The Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. Our facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-house surgical suite, in-house X-ray capabilities, dental X -ray capabilities, state of the art anesthesia and anesthesia monitoring equipment.

Services
In addition to being a full-service veterinary hospital and wellness center, our clinic also provides additional specialized services to promote the overall health and well-being of the animals under our care. These services include acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture has been shown to be beneficial in many circumstances. Individuals with joint pain or arthritis or other chronic diseases can respond extremely well to acupuncture. Integrating conventional medicine, (including the use of pain medication), with this Ancient Chinese modality can produce a reduction in pain, and an overall improvement in health.
Herbal Medicine: We offer the option of integrating appropriate herbal medicine with routine treatment protocols. Herbal medicine uses the herbs as whole plant parts, or as powdered or liquid extracts. A number of conventional medicines synthetically reproduce the active ingredients found in herbs, but herbalists find that the use of the whole, natural, plant product is often more effective and gentler in action.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We also work closely with local referral practices when special diagnostic procedures are needed such as ultrasound or endoscopy.
Surgical Services: Our modern surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Our intra-oral dental X-rays allow us to diagnose tooth abscesses, jaw fractures, fractured teeth, bad roots, and other jaw and dental problems.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well referrals for consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include ultrasonic cleaning and polishing of teeth, dental X-rays to evaluate the health of the tooth under the gum, and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: We provide a broad spectrum of laboratory tests through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and parasite testing.
Permanent identification: We highly recommend and offer Home Again microchip identification to aid shelters and veterinarians in reuniting you and your pet if your pet becomes lost.
Pharmacy: We maintain a large inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets for pets with special medical needs such as allergy, kidney disease and other conditions.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We recommend Frontline Plus is recommend as a flea and tick prevention. We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We carry high quality holistic diets and fresh frozen diets, as well as prescription diets.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
