Online gallery of Paintings and various work from Bangor, Maine artist Harrison Scott Ankers. Inspired landscapes, seascapes, still life, and abstract. FUN
Welcome to Ankerwood Gallery! I hope you enjoy my paintings, maybe you will purchase, maybe you will share my page to someone, maybe you will just look around for a bit; what ever you do I hope you have a great time. I've been drawing and painting ever since I could hold something in my hand and crawl to a blank wall.
My medium of choice was oil paint, but lately I have been painting in acrylic. I also enjoy all other mediums: clay, fabrics, wood, whatever strikes my fancy. I hope something inspires you to get your creative juices flowing. Just don't think about whether it's good or not, just enjoy the act of creating.
Born in 1970, has always painted and creating art, even at the early ages. He moved with his parents, brother and sister to Washington, Maine where he lived in a run down summer home with an outhouse, and modest conditions. His main focus of his early teen age years was art. His medium of choice was oil paint, though he was very masterful in pen and ink, watercolors, and pottery. He attended the 1987 Gifted and Talented Program at Westbrook College; he studied Raku pottery with master potter Paul Huoix. His continued focus during the high school years was with Artist/ Teacher, Ann Lenardson Yates. She pushed him to talk less and to paint more, she was a huge influence in style and whimsy conceptual thought. At this time his work was displayed in the Farnsworth Museum. He painted sets for Medomack Valley High School, and the Camden Opera House. He went on to The University of Maine, at Orono. He graduated with an Associates in Liberal Studies. But, not before creating graphic designs for UMO Residential Life Department, and advertising for the organization Wilde- Stein. He moved to New York for a short time, and enjoyed the hussle and bussle of city life. But, Maine calling him back, he returned to Bangor, Maine. Harrison continues to create works of art. His work is in private collections throughout the United States, and Europe. He has sold many works on Ebay, and continues to sell locally. His work has become very popular to collect, and has been increasing in value and demand.
