Reminds me of the fun dive bars I am use to. Everyone having a good time. Everyone looks over shoulder and sees who is coming in and then makes room for a seat at the bar. Plenty of people to talk to and some wild stories. Also space to just chill for a moment a lone. You do have to become a "member" and it IS a SMOKING establishment so be warned. Overall I'll be back.
Good service good mixed drinks at decent prices. Mellow atmosphere and plenty of locals. Pool tables were recently redone new new balls and cues. Looks like there is a stage for live music but we were there during the day. Plenty of tables and booths. Lots of room at the bar. Plenty of bigs screen televisions around the bar.
The food they have is great, hamburger steak, pork chops etc. all good,my personal fav. is the fajita chicken salad,I love eating the bowl with my salad. And the service they give you is so nice. they are very friendly and very knowledgable on making drinks. they keep the tables clean and check on you often. overall a great place to go have some drinks and food.
Chill atmosphere pool table dance floor, great food just tell them how you want it. Cook is awesome along with the bar and servers. Try it out, pool tables dance floor if you are local or passing through its a must stop, in my book!
This is an old time smokey bar. Few slot machines, few regular patrons. Good atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. A few coin Operated pool tables.
EDIT: after reading the owners response... I absolutely did show my Active duty military ID and that's what started the issue on the original night in question. I have my state ID but instead of being asked for that I was told to "get the f**k out". I also went back and used my state ID and talked to the owner who told me he has the right to refuse service for any reason, including using my military ID. So which is it, you accept it "but I didn't produce it" or "I must show state ID"? TABC states that a government issued ID is an acceptable form of identification. Ignorance is not an excuse for the law. Now you're just trying to save face and blatantly lying about the whole situation. I tried to be cordial and reasonable but obviously nothing is going to work. Best of luck with your business. Not only refused me service because I had an active duty military ID but the bartender starting cussing at us and then a patron got involved and started threatening us. I remained calm and tried to explain that it was a valid government ID but was only met with more conflict. Would give less than 1 star if possible. Do not plan on returning.
best bar food around, cheap ice cold beer, loud jukebox, pool tables, stage with live bands... what more can you want?
We love Anchor Up, the food is great and the customers are all friendly. We also love our Amber, she is fantastic. Mic night on Friday is a fun time.
