Ann of Siam provides Ancient Thai Foot Massage to the Lake Norman and Charlotte Communities
Ann is a native of Thailand who came to the United States forty years ago. She is a tiny dynamo of enthusiasm for the benefits of Thai Foot Massage, Reflexology, an ancient therapy that was once a closely guarded secret for royalty. She completed the course of study in Bangkok, Thailand, administered by the Ministry of Public Health under the auspices of the Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine in 2005. She studied 120 hours of traditional Thai body and foot massage. After returning to the United States and beginning the Ann of Siam Thai foot massage service in Brentwood, California, she earned additional certificates from the School of Traditional Medical Thai Massage in San Francisco. She gained another 500 hrs. of studies and hands-on experience under the personal tutelage of Madam Supron Mukomla, the highly respected founder of that institute in California.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to particular area of the feet especially the soles, but also the toes and sides of the feet. The masseur uses hands, fingers and thumbs, and a special rounded wooden stick, in conjunction with massage oil or cream, to stimulate the nerve endings of the feet. Reflexology as practiced in Thailand is an ancient therapeutic procedure with roots in China, and a history over 3000 years old
Foot reflexology is related to the traditional medical sciences of Indian yoga and Chinese acupuncture, or more accurately, acupressure. No needles are used for Thai reflexology. Sensory nerves of the internal organs that spread throughout the body are mainly gathered around the soles of the foot. Consequently the foot massage is effective in stimulating the functions of the internal organs, as well as the circulatory and lymph systems. The students of foot reflexology learn the pressure points and areas of the bottom, sides, and top of each foot that are related to the various organs of the body.
Thai foot massage provides relaxation and relief from stress, balance in the body’s various systems, and healthy blood circulation. It is known to foster general good health and mental serenity, and relief from fatigue. Proponents report relief from stress and tension, back and other chronic pain, allergies, high blood pressure, sleep disorder, gout, migraine, arthritis, fibromyalgia, kidney and digestive problems.
The immune system is boosted, healing is accelerated, the body is refreshed, and the mind is cleared of stress. Muscles are relaxed and joint stiffness eased.
