It was chartered in 1881, and has 57 members. There are more than 23,000 members in the state. Freemasonry has almost one-and-a-half million members in the U. S. A.
Often viewed as merely a secret society, Freemasonry is also a benevolent, educational and charitable organization, contributing $2 million a day in charity nationwide through its lodges and appendant bodies. Masonic lodges across Kansas support local youth and community projects and humanitarian efforts including a statewide blood drive, child identification program, scholarships and a high school marching band clinic.
