This was the best experience I ever had in Little Italy. From the moment we entered the restaurant until we were leaving we felt as if we were part of the family. We were greeted by a lovely hostess. She led us to our table where we were quickly served water and bread with some delicious butter. We wanted to relax and enjoy a bottle of wine with a few appetizers before we ordered dinner. We started off with the Mediterrean Flatbread and provolone medallions. The flat bread was a very thin-crusted pizza similar to what you would find in Italy --- the flavors were harmonious. We also ordered the Provolone medallions --- two large breaded discs of provolone cheese served over a bed of marinara --- Obviously homemade and dangerously tasty. After the apps, my husband and I decided to share the portabella salad so we still had room for dinner. The portabella was warm and the spring mix was cold and fresh. It was topped with crumbled blue cheese, red peppers and balsamic reduction. The contrast of temperatures and flavors were amazing. For dinner we ordered Gnocchi, Chicken Marsala, Veal Parm and Pesto Shrimp. Everyone loved their entrée. Unfortunately, we filled-up quickly and had to take a lot of our food home which made great leftovers for the next day. Our server suggested we try their homemade gelato. Although we were so full, we followed her advice as her guidance throughout our meal so far was great. We shared a tiramisu gelato --- I would have to say I was truly surprised with the flavor and texture - So creamy and robust. The owner stopped by our table a few times to check on us. We were pleasantly surprised with our new favorite restaurant and wish we had found it sooner. We will definitely go to Anthony’s when we are back in Little Italy.
I was excited to try this place, but I won't go back. I was disappointed because it was obvious that they used frozen meatballs and their marinara sauce tasted worse than something I could buy at Giant Eagle. It was sad spending so much money on a plate of mediocre spaghetti. They have good butter for their bread, that's about it. Definitely not worth going to if you're in Little Italy, there are much better options.
Our first visit to Little Italy / Cleveland and we were very happy. Great outdoor seating. Wonderful food. We had the calamari, caprese, gnocchi and eggplant parm, they were all good. And the cake batter gelato is to die for!
First thing I told the waiter was I like my pasta al dente. So I get the the Pasta and it was way over cooked!! I would have too say it was pre-cooked; also the sauce was nastey!! tasted like something from a can you would get at aldi's or save a lot. So, I paid for something I did not eat ~ I WILL NOT return to Anothony's. Wife and I went walked up the block to Etna Restaurant and I got some Real Itailan Pasta from Real Itailans. Itailans run the place and cook your food on the spot!! My Pasta cooked perfect!! and the sauce was great!
New favorite restaurant! Delicious, authentic, Italian food. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly service, efficient and knowledgable wait staff. Best Gelato ever! 3 favorites; Calamari Supreme, Caprese Salad and Chicken Florentine. and bread pudding and pumpkin Gelato were delicious
Owner is awesome. You feel like family here. Portions are extremely generous, and daily specials make this an excellent value. If you're in Cleveland, you must check it out.
I've been meaning to stop in this place everytime I go to Cleveland. Someone suggested it to me about a year ago. Glad I went. I got there pretty early in the evening late afternoon so the place was fairly empty and was seated right away. The service was over the top. Everything on the menu is pushing 20 bucks a plate but the special includes soup salad side of pasta and dessert for the same price. Had some kind of maybe Italian soup not quite wedding soup that was a tomato base could have been out of a can but I am not sure. Had little pasta noodles and cannoli beans was actually pretty good. Had the house salad which was all arugula and a decent balsamic Italian style dressing. Wasn't swimming in the dressing which is a real change from some places. Had a cup of coffee and the waiter immediately went and got me another one from a fresh pot. Another girl brought me a basket of bread but sort of forgot to give me any butter. Got some of that finally and it was nice not those hard little patties that you get out of a freezer pretty good dollop of it with some herbs. The special was veal parmesan and when it came out it was the size of a frisbee filling the plate nicely breaded and pounded flat with a really decent Sunday gravy and lots of chewy cheese. There was another gigantic what turned out to be the side of pasta and could have been homemade with the same sauce not way salty like some places and struck me as possibly homemade not out of a can or jar. Couldn't even finish the portions so got a doggie bag and my waiter brought the tiramisu which was pretty good as well. May or may not have been house-made. All in all a pretty good feed for a little over 18 bucks. These other reviews aren't recent and may be for the previous incarnation which confused me a bit because when I did a search for the website it said they had closed down after 15 years moved to the east side of town and are concentrating on catering. I didn't ask didn't care. I will probably go back if I ever get back up to Cleveland and have the time. Little Italy is exactly that it's about 1 block long and basically consists of a row of little restaurants and a church or two. A couple more empty storefronts than I would have anticipated.
Had the pasta aglio y olio. It was a lump of dry chewy pasta sitting in some olive oil. Not very good.
the pizza is great I love all the toppings and the service is good I recommend this pizza to a lot of people you ought to try it you will love it
