It is a skate park. They have stuff for skaters. They forgot the family. It is a long walk from the nearest parking to the skate park area. I have sometimes managed to talk my way into driving down the "authorized vehicles only" road bases on my disabled plates. Even once you are very close to the skate park the entrance is up a hill steeper than allowed under ADA. Once you get up to where you can see the skateboarding, again there is a lack of accessible design. There are benches, but they are located in high weed patches behind high curbs. I am not chair bound, but walk. However, not wanting to have a significant fall I have never tried to climb over that curb. I have watched pregnant moms struggle getting over those curbs. I can only imagine if some day someone falls and harm comes to her unborn child, or they both die of a placental abruption. I do have a little compassion for the skate park designers. I am sure they put that curb there to keep skateboards out of the area. They just forget to make a way to let less able people in. Even a sturdy aluminium post people could use as a hand hold while climbing over would make it safer. Whatever material is used it should not be something that will heat up in the sun. The sun is the other issue at the skate park. There is no shade unless you bring a shade tent, remember your wagon to haul it all the way from the parking lot. Other than that, a big hat and some sunglasses are in order. If you need a restroom the community center building is part of the same complex. There is also a playground, waterpark, and other park space in the complex. Some of these other areas have proper ADA design with designated parking. Google wants to know about dogs. Certainly you could bring a dog to the general open areas here, but there is not a dog park. I would not recommend a dog in the skate park unless he has strong nerves, but there is no signage prohibiting it. Maybe people won't understand "strong nerves".... The dog needs to be able to put up with the sound and motion of the skateboarding, potentially many skaters, and not be upset by it. You can tell by posture even more than by barking. Some dogs may not bark but still be upset, and beginning to move towards a fight, flight, or freeze response.
This park is always clean and peaceful. It has plenty of parking and shade. There are no undesirables hanging out. We frequent this park weekly. You can plan a mini BBQ on the picnic tables provided and enjoy your day. It's one of thee best in Antioch. Definitely a must visit. Enjoy Playground: The playground is disabled friendly. It has an awesome turn merry go round for wheelchairs. Really cool. Picnic area: Always clean so continue the cleanliness PLEASE.
My son and his friends love Skating here
Perfect for my grandson just turning 3 too ride his little non pedals bike around. Just needs shade
Nearly impossible to find on a map. Very dirty but that can be fixed. No trashcans anywhere near by. There is a heavy barrel in one of the bowls, which makes that bowl unusable. This could be a really nice park but needs some work.
What? Share details of my own experience? My college thesis wouldn't be half as long as the experiences I've got at this place. It's got flow you know, but only if you're not prone to vertigo cos the skater in the yoc goes round and round round and round, the skater in the yoc goes round and round revolving around the volcano...
The transition is no good super lompy and uneven. The rail is super high in the stairs and long but not high so it’s kind of a weird park.
Been skating here for 20yrs. Park has good transition and lots of flow to it. It's lacking street elements and there's no shade or bathrooms present.
Really like this park just wished they had closer parking, the park is pretty hidden. Plus the gps address sends you to a completely different location.
Wish the city would put more money into it the kids really use it. All the kids come together when it comes to helping one another there. If someone falls they help even if they don't know them.
