Antioch station (eBART)

Description

Antioch is a Bay Area Rapid Transit station on the planned eBART line under construction east of Pittsburg/Bay Point, the current terminus of the Pittsburg/Bay Point–SFO/Millbrae line. It will be located in the median of Highway 4 at Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch, California. Initially planned to open in 2016, the station's service date has been delayed until 2018. eBART is a quicker, more cost-effective way to introduce BART further out in to east Contra Costa County .DesignIt will be the eastern terminus of eBART, BART's first diesel multiple unit (DMU) line, which will extend from the Pittsburg/Bay Point station, passing through Pittsburg. Antioch Station will service the central area of Antioch in addition to this bedroom community's residents commuting to job centers in San Francisco and other areas. It is also expected to attract passengers from Oakley, Brentwood, Discovery Bay, and Rio Vista, cities that were envisioned as part of the original extension but could not be included due to cost. BART plans to eventually extend service southeast to Brentwood and if foreseeable upgrade the extension to full BART service while pushing the DMU portion further out.

Great option if you are traveling to or fro to SF airport, especially during peak hours.
They need to reinforce the loading and unloading zone people just park and block the whole right side of the lanes and congested with unnecessary traffic, they as far to park and get out of the vehicle. It’s September 2019 and you still have idiots that park and wait in a lane that signs say no loading and unloading and the Bart police just pass by them great work lol It’s 2023 the metal bars are great for preventing people from parking but now just do same inside parking lanes in the parking lot double parking blocking me and other people from leaving it’s getting ridiculous you get harassed now by random people asking for money or following you around the parking lot I use Bart daily to get to work this is added stress and a safety risk makes me think twice now about having some type of protection since police do not come patrol often.
One of the newer stations at BART, just recently got a station agent there, so the fare evasion has went down. Very upset that they made it these small ebart trains, this is the busiest station! No parking garage, before covid if you weren’t out here at 3am you wouldn’t find a spot. They’ve since expanded the parking, which is nice but the walk is ridiculous from your car to the train. Cars are CONSTANTLY broken into at this parking lot, and the thefts are left unsolved! The glass from broken windows remains at the station months, weeks later. Hope in the future they correct this mistake of a mini station that they built here in Antioch, this is where a majority of your commuters come from
You must be at the station by 5:15am to get any parking spots. After 5:15am, there are no available spots. The waiting list to get on the reserved packing list is over 2,600 prospects behind. Other than that, the train connector/extension is regular, new and clean so is the station. Overcrowded but that's just the area being a residential one. A new station in Brentwood is overdue with more parking spaces.
I love that this station is brand new but there are a couple of things that I don’t like about it. First of all, you have to transfer from one train to another just to go to Downtown San Francisco. Second of all the trains are not electric and pollute the environment. Finally third, I just wanted to point out that platform 1 is not in use, so if you want to catch a train always to to platform 2.
The station itself is very good, saves me about 10min everyday for the 10 miles but very heavy traffic. The thing is it has very limited parking lots. I see places like Livermore and Concord are speeding up adding new parking lot.
Parking is limited and it will be full after 5:17am. Anytime after that. Good luck getting a space. The Bart station itself is clean and there is usually an attendant standing by to help with any problems.
I commute every weekday from this station for the past year. It’s clean. I had also lost my wallet at one point, and the Bart employee here returned it to me!
Very easy form of transportation.
Antioch bart uses only clipper cards. There are no agents but occasional bart security. A lot of gate jumpers here and cannot leave out the homeless using it as a shelter
