Well although my name ain't Dorothy, I still feel a bit like I've been swept up from Kansas and flung into a different world. I needed a new laptop which I am now using to write this review and thusly had to venture into the wilds of the Portland dystopia. This was particularly harrowing due to the ridiculous size of my truck which navigated the parking structure like an egg navigating a chicken's rear end. Arriving at the Apple place felt a good deal like arriving at Oz with the high gated walls and i fully expected a head to pop out and squawk, "Who rang that bell? But they passed me easily into the hallowed halls where I was met with a bevy of kids young enough to be my great grand kids, or at least so it seemed. I was waiting for them to start singing Follow the yellow brick road and running around like munchkins, but instead they swooped in and started taking care of me. Boy! That's kind of a shock! I mean they were efficient and nice... and patient. They took me by the hand and led me through my options and I didn't feel talked down to or pressured or anything. I mean, what's going on here?! They did seem a little shocked when I pulled out my wad on of cash to buy the damn thing. I think cash is kind of a dying thing, like eight track tapes or AOL addresses. And while I'm talking to this young woman, suddenly someone magically appears with my laptop and places it in front of me like a stack of bacon and biscuits. Very tricky. I was amazed that what looked like the Land of Oz chaos actually seemed pretty damned efficient. Oh, and I should mention the bathroom! A joy for an old man to find a clean spacious bathroom before once again braving bewildering streets of Portland. Maybe I won't wait five years before shopping here again, although I might have my wife drive.
We had to come into the Apple store to fix my phone and my mothers. It was nice to see that this location was still doing classes on there programs and stuff. The service people were helpful and the store is clean and nice as well
Its unfortunate about the place being safeguarded like a bank... Guess the scars around downtown were cut deep.. but walk past that and you have people waiting around to help you like car salesmen, only without the pressure to buy stuff! Just browsing around and seeing that huge screen in the middle showcasing the product is so cool!
Arrived at 5 store closes at 7 Modest traffic in store but not “busy” Asked for help at 6 and was told “no appointments” no offer to help us for an hour. advised staff “I’m a little thick and need a yes or no, can we buy a computer tonight?” Robotic reply, “We have no appointments” “I need a straight answer, can we buy a computer now? I need a yes or no.” Refused and made the interaction tense I made clear, “I’m sorry I’m a little thick and need a yes or no answer” she continued to refuse. Turn out this is the store manager!! So called store manager “Yakima” REFUSED to give a basic answer. Kept repeating no appointments. I was clear that I have a disability and need a straight answer to understand and again and repeatedly refused to answer. As I walked away I was advised that she thought it was funny to mess with me. I don’t think making fun of disabilities and making life hard on people is funny. Yes, stores get busy There were many staff members chatting with each other and NOT with customers. Yes, I’ve been to this store and made purchases in the past. Sometimes with delay based on how busy others quickly. Yes, the store looks like a prison. Yes, parking is hell. Yes, lot of goofy folks downtown and many closed storefronts. But we went here anyway. Yes, Apple is one of the highest priced brands. Yes, the company is so big they could care less about a single $2k sale to a student with their disabled parent. We came anyway. Stay away from this store as the manager, Yakima, is horrible and takes pleasure from making life hard on people.
Helpful staff my pickup was super quick. Great store
Came here to pickup airpods that I ordered online. The whole experience was great. Seemed a bit crowded inside but didn't have to wait long for someone to help me. The employees are friendly and willing to answer any questions - maybe even give you some tips on how to use your new product to it's full potential.
My husband bought a phone from an app store. The first months the phone worked well, after 4 months there was a problem with the rear camera. Apple acknowledged that this was a warranty case and that it was a problem with the phone, and they replaced the camera for free. A month later, the phone got wet. Water immediately got in there, the front camera was damaged, and after another day the screen turned completely white and stopped working. Apple employees refused to repair it and replace it for free, as the phone was damaged by water. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is a waterproof phone. Question: Are your phones not waterproof? Or did you brake protection against moisture while repairing the camera? Please answer my questions and provide the best conditions for replacing the phone. We refuse to pay for a new phone 13 pro Max $600 and even more so than this amount, I’m ready to buy iPhone 14 pro max for this price and give your broken phone. I believe this is entirely Apple's fault and you should fix my issue.
My in-store experiences were pleasant after I got past the fortified zombie-apocalypse metal fencing surrounding the building. I would have rated the Apple store at least a 4-star, but the metal fencing needs to come down before I will do that. The store now mimics the software guard rails, forcing features and developer controls they've baked into their products.
I'm glad we had an appointment for the Genius Bar. There was a wait for shoppers to enter. However, I think it's great that Apple is limiting entry making everyone's experience inside the store a better one. Staff was super helpful and friendly.
The store itself is nice but good luck getting anyone to answer when you call. I got an email and call about a repair part arriving with specific instructions to CALL back if I cant drop off computer in a 5 day period. After 6 tries and over 20 minutes each time on hold trying to reach someone to say i am out of town, I gave up. Who knows if they will hold my part or if I have to go through the whole process again- in person just to be told they dont have the part and they will reorder the part. Again, in person the store is fine in terms of the support team i worked with but everything else is very frustrating.
