Welcome and thank you for your interest in St. Cloud State University's Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs and Services (MS-RAS).
Having dedicated my entire career to the regulatory affairs profession at Medtronic, I couldn’t resist the opportunity offered by the College of Science and Engineering dean, Dr. David DeGroote, when he asked me if I would be interested in becoming the program director for this exciting new master's program.
In the past, RA professionals usually started as scientists or engineers and learned about regulatory on the job. As devices and regulations have become more and more complex, there has been a growing need for formally trained professionals in this specialty and thus the need for this program. A unique approach of this program is that it has been designed to take advantage of the knowledge not just of individual experts but of teams of industry experts who have developed and are delivering the unique content of this program.
We have assembled some of the best and brightest minds in medical device regulatory, clinical, quality, reimbursement, and FDA law to teach this program. As I had expected, graduates of our program are highly sought after by the medical devices industry. Our regulatory job fair this year attracted 13 companies representing two-thirds of the medical device industry employment in Minnesota..
