The Aptos/La Selva Fire Protection District encompasses 17 square miles with a resident population of approximately 22,000. The assessed valuation of the district is over 5.2 billion dollars and our 2010/11 budget is over $9,000,000.
We operate three fire stations with 9 Firefighters, 12 Firefighter/Paramedics and 9 Fire Captains. We have 3 Division Chiefs who supervise Fire Prevention, Operations, Emergency Medical Services, Training and Support Services. The Division Chiefs share incident command duty coverage on a rotating basis, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We also employ a Deputy Fire Marshal, Business Manager, Fire Prevention Specialist, Administrative Assistant and a Fire Chief, for a total of thirty-eight employees.
