Today was my first visit to Aqualand and I would 10/10 recommend this place for ALL of your fish needs. The owner, John, is absolutely great, friendly and really knows his stuff. 2nd generation owner, has his own fish at home, etc. His cousin Tom also works here and is just as friendly and knowledgeable. The store has a HUGE selection of fish, supplies, aquariums, and the like. They offer water testing and other services. A great place to even just visit and check out all of the fish. Support small businesses, shop local and come to Aqualand!!! Located at the corner of Chicago and E. 54th - Minneapolis. "Fish are friends ... Not food."
This place is amazing! Really helpful and knowledgeable staff. I am just starting my freshwater aquarium and they were so patient and answered all my questions. Tested my water, gave excellent advice and helped us choose our first fish for the tank. Fish are beautiful and very active. Can't wait to go back and continue growing our tank!
Great selection of fish and plants. Good turnover so you are likely to get fish that are healthier. I visited a number of other shops in town, but kept returning here. Only shop that consistently checked on my tank size and stocking level prior to selling me more fish.
Support this business!! I came here to buy my first fish and just set up a basic fish tank with no filtration system. I am not looking to create an aquarium at this moment, but if I was, the selection at this store is great! I have to emphasize that the staff members were extremely nice and super helpful!! The store was busy and near closing time when I visited. I was asking a bunch of questions about setting up my tank and fish care generally because I am determined to not kill my first fish haha. The staff did not rush me at all and answered all of my questions - even the ridiculous ones. This is also just a fun store to pop into because they have turtles too and so many fun fish to look at. I went here on a Friday and it was a fun way to begin my weekend. The prices of the fish and supplies are also very fair. I paid about $10 for my Siamese Fighting Fish. All the creatures at the store seem to be well cared for, and the store was organized, neat, and clean. If I decide to build something more elaborate than just a simple fish tank, like a small aquarium - I will certainly be coming here. You can also come in at any time and they will give you a container of aged water. I was told this is useful for maintaining healthy water for your fish and also useful for when you clean the tank and give "new" water - the aged water helps reduce shocking the fish due to the change in environment. I'm learning, and my fish Moksha is still alive! Yay!:
Wow! Amazing spot for everything Fish and Aquarium needs. Found some Marble fish, bought 3 going back for more soon. He's the one that's gold and gray.
Came into the store hoping to find something different than my local pet smart and petco, aqualand more than exceeded expectations. John, one of the employees was abundantly helpful with my purchase and any other hobby related questions I had. The store is a very impressive place with great staff and I’ll be returning regularly!
I really like this place. They have a wode variety of fish in good condition. The staff are kind and eager to help. This was the only store in the area that stocked African dwarf frogs, and the ones I got are very healthy and happy. My only complaint is their setup for male bettas. They are kept in small cups and do not look healthy clamped fins, low energy, etc. and have displays encouraging keeping them in very small tanks. If you're looking for bettas, go to tamed waters. Otherwise, this is a great store. If they improve their betta setups I would happily rate them 5 stars
