Aras Ruslys- Physiotherapist

About

Aras Ruslys is accepting new patients at TOPS Physio and The Running Physio.

Description

Aras journey to become a Physiotherapist originated growing up playing basketball. It was here where his passion for movement and sport began. Aras started his post-secondary education at York University and graduated with Bachelor of Health in Kinesiology. Upon graduation he spent just over a year working as a Kinesiologist at a private clinic in Etobicoke working alongside physiotherapist which solidified his decision to pursue further education and training as a physiotherapist.

Due to Aras’ love for travel and the outdoors, he chose to continue his education to become a Physiotherapist overseas at the University of Sydney in Australia. While studying for his Master’s degree In Physiotherapy, Aras worked at the New South Wales Institute of Sports Medicine, gaining valuable first hand experience in the sports physiotherapy world. During his time there, Aras was able to work closely with the West Harbour Rugby Union Team as a Physiotherapist. This experience of on-field injury assessment and management as well as post-game integration with coaching staff and with his experience in a clinical setting have given him the ability to provide goal-oriented treatment in a very diverse spectrum of environments. This includes clients that have had acute and chronic conditions, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, motor vehicle accidents, work-place reintegration and injury management, to name a few.

As the Pan-Am games were hosted in Toronto in 2015, Aras took the opportunity to put his expertise to good use by volunteering his time during both the Pan-Am and Para Pan-Am games working with various other medical professionals to diagnose and treat a variety of injuries to both the men’s and women’s basketball and wheel-chair basketball teams at Ryerson University.

Aras is consistently seeking continued education and has added a significant number of post-graduation skills to his treatment tool kit including but not limited to Dry-needling, Mckenzie method of diagnostic therapy, Mulligan’s techniques, and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). Currently, Aras is fully certified as an Emergency First Responder and is seeking his certification as a Sports Physiotherapist with Sports Physio Canada.

Having been through his share of sporting injuries growing up, Aras is familiar with what is required to achieve one’s goals and return to sport/work and is dedicated and eager to work with each patient to reach their respective goals and ultimately being pain free in movement, everyday activities and life.
