From the outside, this upscale restaurant and bar, housed in an abandoned railside Depot, might look like a dive bar for local fishermen, but Inside, it's fabulous. The full bar stocks a liquor for every taste and the specialty drinks are beyond creative. We chose the shrimp with blue cheese from the extensive small plates menu. Excellent. There is ample indoor seating as well as a long bar and patio seating by the waterfront. The gravel road leading to the restaurant is rough but parking is plentiful. It can be hard to find. Just follow the railroad tracks.
Stopped by for dinner this evening. The renovations to the interior of the restaurant were amazing. The colors, the decor and bar were impressive. They have an aawesome new chandelier too. We chose to eat on the patio because it was a decent temperature. The tables and chairs were nice, modern and clean. The umbrellas at each table were way too small. If it had been sunnier or hotter, they would not have shaded us at all. Ans they were mismatched too. Also, the music was so loud it was hard to talk to each other. The music selection felt like it was geared to twentysomethings but the atmosphere, food and pricing seemed to be geared to a slightly older crowd. My companion felt it was trying to draw in the Chicago tourist crowd we get in the summer. The bugs were a huge problem as well. Our waiter was very soft spoken which was hard to hear over the music. He did not seem to know the menu well. Asked if they served Sweet Tea, he said yes but brought me regular tea and sugar packets. We had guacamole for an appetizer. The presentation was beautiful but portation was very small. We received only 8 tortilla chips. Which was just enough for the amount of guacamole we received. Unfortunately, the guacamole was fairly tasteless. We could see onion but not taste it at all. It definately needed more salt and pepper. The chips were the best part of the appetizer because they appeared to be freshly baked. Too bad there were only 8. I ordered the roasted chicken quesadilla. The presentation was not good. They were burnt on the outside but insides were luke warm at best. It looked like it has been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. Instead of the cheese being gooey it had resolidified. The condiments I was given were unrecognizable. I believe there were supposed to be a salsa, alrhough it was brown in color and lacked flavor and sour cream, but it could have been creme fresh. It too did not have flavor and was too runny for sour cream. When I asked tbe waiter, he was uncertain to what they were as well. Unfortunately, the worst part of the dish was the bone fragments in the chicken. We did mention to waiter who just looked at us blankly and walked away. No apology or anything. My companion had the Cubuanno sandwhich which he enjoyed immensely. The "side salad" that came with it was nothing more than dandelion greens about 2 bites worth with what appeared to be a mustard dressing. The salad was bitter and disappointing. But he said he would order the sandwich again. Because it is a new establishment we plan on trying it again. Atmosphere was terrific but they have some kinks to work out.
I came to park here for fireworks on the 4th. One of the best places for a closeup view of the fireworks and they were absolutely beautiful.. The lake view is what really makes this place a regular outing for me!
We were a party of 6 last night. Had a great time visiting and having drinks. Good atmosphere. Good service. Unfortunately the food was very poor. My wife had the ribs and they were cooked to the consistency of jerky. I had the Surf & Turf and the steak was like a hockey puck. I ordered my steak medium rare and there was absolutely no pink. There was no baked potato available, just a 'smashed potato, fries or cole slaw. If it wasn't for the fact that we were having a good time with friends, i would have sent the food back and left.
Great interior, great views and they now have the best Mediterranean food anywhere. I will be back often.
We are so glad that we came to Arcadia We had a particularly bad experience at Mateys and we hoped they could accommodate our party of 7. And they did FANTASTICALLY! Peter was amazing and kind. Jason, our server even made us a fresh fruit dessert because they just had it lying around to make. There were hiccups with our alcohol orders as they weren't made correctly not once but twice - and Jason remade us something and it was spectacular! The food was ON POINT! 100/10 would recommend again!
Very delicious food for a very fair price. Service was excellent Thanks Rachel! And the atmosphere was very fresh and new. I read reviews complaining about the music being too loud, but they must have fixed that. Music was nice and ambient, and the noise level was not overbearing. Will definitely visit again!
Good cocktail. Good crabcake. Rushed service! Also ordered shrimp dish and bread was old. gazpacho was good but missing the lobster and a soup spoon? Pizza was average and served on cardboard. For the price they should invest in metal pizza plates and cloth napkins.
My husband and i came in for dinner a few nights ago, our service was amazing, the staff was incredible. Food was delicious. However next to us was a large party of women who said they were there for a wedding party. I couldnt help but over hear them discuss how they were going to complain about everything even saying they had a food allergie to get out of paying there bill. They even had two separate servers that were doing everything they could to please this party . I felt so bad for them. At the end one of the ladys even left with a glass of wine, i just can't believe people really do things like this.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!!
