I am only giving 1 star because everyone was great at the ED after my encounter with the security guard upfront. But that specific security company is an issue and that guard was awful to have to deal with. I am not sure why he's screening people for symptoms or reason for visit? Or what power he held in that and asking why my child was needing to be seen? But he could have been kinder about his approach and explained why I needed the thin yellow mask instead of my N95 mask I was wearing. Instead of treating me like I was refusing to wear a mask period. I assumed like all places or hospitals they have those upfront for people who have forgotten theirs. Which is why I politely explained mine was not cloth but in-fact a recommended mask. It takes very little to politely explain it's just policy there and offered a solution like the receptionist did and wearing it over my N95. I was not combative in anyway but it certainly affected the start of my visit and had a negative impact. Aside from that, I wasn't sure at first of how our visit would go, but our practitioner was very sweet and so was our nurse. I do love that they run a panel to check for all viruses and not just the one or two they suspect. I was very pleased with the immediate hospital staff. Reception was sweet and very quick with vitals in triage there in the ED.
From our consult 10 days ago to our outpatient ENT procedure today, I cannot say enough good things about our ACH ENT experience. Our consult two weeks ago with our ENT, APRN Valerie, was thorough, professional and personable. We never felt rushed and all of our questions were answered in full. She was excellent with our young child and it was a good consultation all-around. Today’s procedure went just as well— from a short check-in to timely pre-op/procedure, we were never left waiting and everything was well-communicated. Dr. Amos surgeon, Dr. Beck anesthesiology, specialist Sarah, and nurse Bethany were an incredible team and my expectations were beyond exceeded with how comfortable they made both our child and us. I absolutely recommend utilizing ACH, if it’s an option, because it’s truly a kid-centric facility and team. Our only other experience with ACH has been utilizing their ER for our infant with RSV, and we were impressed again with their short wait time, effective communication and thorough evaluation.
This hospital is a gift to our area. Don't rate it low just because you had to wait a while in ER! Look I've been there. I know it takes a while, but the reality is that these people give amazing care to kids and you can have 100% faith that when they get to you they are going to give your kids the best. My daughter had surgery here and they were incredible with her. Absolutely low key and no trauma or fear for her. My son had staples put in here... He's a highly sensitive child who they worked with and got it done. Thank you to the amazing nurses and staff at Children's NWA!!! I'm so glad we have a hospital like this in our area.
Although the wait was a little long which is fine, because you were very busy the ER staff was very attentive and helpful to everyone that walked in the door. When it comes to our kids, we as parents stress and you guys eased that stress for me just a little. Once we got back, the nurses and dr showed my baby so much kindness and love. We had left another urgent care where we were treated so rudely. So it was a breath of fresh air to be treated with kindness while trying to help my baby.
This hospital is absolutely top notch. Our 4 week old son had to undergo emergency surgery yesterday morning and we stayed in the hospital for two days. During our time here we did not encounter a single staff member who was anything short of AMAZING! Thank you to Dr Mcvay and her surgical team, and to all the wonderful nurses and assistants who helped to make our traumatic experience a little easier to deal with. Every person at this establishment was so genuinely kind and caring. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone in the area with little ones. You will not be disappointed!
The staff here was awesome, everyone knew what they were doing and how to do it. We were treated as you would want to be treated having to take your baby to the ER. The wait was 5 hours, but aside from the long wait time it was perfect. We will choose this hospital if we ever need to take one of our kids in again!
The doctors and nurses are amazing! Thankful for the security even though there were a couple hoops to jump through. Can't say enough great things about the staff there! Dr. Dalton and Jordan, Nurse Cameron, Hayley, Anna and Paige and so many others that cared so well for us. We are so grateful we have this hospital in NWA!
My son is currently admitted here and the nursing staff and doctors are simply amazing! With suspected meningitis, they were very thorough and did every test imaginable to make sure they knew what exactly was going on. I'm so impressed with this hospital... Kudos to every nurse and doctor at this hospital, each one of you are a gift and a blessing! Thank you all!
Children's Hospital of NWA is a clean and caring hospital, they helped our son with love and compassion and made him feel safe and warm while he was there. Thank you and a awesome job. Thank you for helping our son. God bless you all.
New to the area? RUN!!! I've had nothing but negative experiences here. I am not sure which to share... their ER is the worst. The rest is as good as care from a CNA that dropped out. It's not just the wait times. It's the incompetence. My youngest 11 months old thenbrought in for a small infected abscess June 2018. They didn't want to do an I&D because "it would hurt him". Didn't get a culture so couldn't rx the proper antibiotic. 5 days later, he was brought in with 106° fever, suffered days of pain and needed "emergency" surgery that took them 24+ hours to get around too. During that wait, he wasn't given any pain meds for the infection its now tunneled into his thigh! despite his obvious shaking and whimpering in pain. 12 hours later, I asked the Dr to please give him something while we wait. Turns out, the Dr had prescribed him pain meds, but the 2 nurses we had refused to give them to him. Funny how they were all "shocked" at how much better he seemed after his pain was lessened just a bit. "He seems like a different kid" they'd exclaim. Yeah! You let him suffer for no reason whatsoever and the ER's negligence got him in this state. A simple I&D with culture, days earlier, could have prevented ALL of this. He spent 4 nights and 3 days in that hospital because they don't know what they're doing. Why did I ever come back? Because places deserve second chances, right? Little Rock is too far to drive, they were new and my kids' Dr sent us here. The drive to Little Rock is WORTH IT. I'll drive to Oregon, I'll drive to Florida before coming here ever again. My children had at least 4 more horrible experiences over the next 5 years. They can't read xrays in ER, not even a lil. Three times we were sent home with "no breaks" or a break "like this"- they were wrong every time. How? On 3 separate occasions over a 4 year period! They won't believe you when you report temps and symptoms, so you won't get proper care. Their triage priorities are a joke. A happy energetic kid with the flu will fly past a severely dehydrated, lethargic child and another with a concussion. I wish I was embellishing. I don't blame the employees. They're just looking to pay their bills. I blame whoever manages this place, writes their protocols, hires morons and evil incompetent humans. I will never darken their doors again. Never. If you want to take your chances with your kid's health- I wish you luck and pray you don't become another sad case of negligence. I wouldn't send a serial killer here. No one deserves this ER at any point from grand opening to present day or the fools that work there. I'm sure there are some good ones like all the "good" cops... they aren't the ones providing the critical care tho.
