Description
On July 2, 1958 the City of Arlington purchased six acres of land in the eastern section from Southwestern Climatic Homes. Helen Wessler Park includes the Helen Wessler Swimming Pool which was built in 1959. Other amenities include picnic area and playground.
Mrs. Wessler was a charter member of the Parks and Recreation Board when there was “just one park, just one lawnmower and we wore it out in one summer,” she quoted once. Mrs. Wessler served as the secretary of the Parks and Recreation Board until 1963. The park was dedicated in 1959 to Mrs. Wessler.
