Held the first weekend of October on H Street. This creative event features local and regional street painters, music from regional bands.
Art Along the Rogue Street Painting and Music Festival, held on October 8th and 9th, 2016 on H Street in Grants Pass promises to be the best ever. Art Along the Rogue Street Painting and Music Festival is the premier street painting festival in the Northwest, and like past years will include world-renowned street painters, regional professionals and school groups filling H Street with huge, beautiful pastel drawings plus a showcase for some of the region’s best musicians.
Also, anyone can be a street painter at Art Along the Rogue. For just $5.00, you will get a 2 foot x 2 foot square of pavement and the pastels to create your own masterpiece and help support Art Along the Rogue.
New this year is the Art Along the Rogue School Challenge. In the past, some schools have participated as teams of students artists, working side-by-side with professionals street painters, creating street paintings under the supervision of their art teachers. This year Art Along the Rogue will challenge more schools to participate and earn much needed funds for their school art program. Art Along the Rogue will provide a collection box for each school and encourage festival attendees to donate money to the school art program of their choice. The money collected will be given directly to the school to spent as needed in support of the visual arts. Four local schools have signed up to participate in this year’s event, so far.
For the music portion of the event, there will be nine regional bands performing a wide range of musical styles from blues to bluegrass, folk to funk, and rock to ragtime.
