My Philosophy
I am Amy Magaletti, the founder and teacher at the Art Cellar. I have a M.A. in Art and Art Education. I have a passion for photography and painting but I love all forms of Art. As an art educator I have the great privilege to inspire creative and critical thinking every day. All students, regardless of their age or grade, need the opportunity to experiment with the elements of art and to let their imaginations run wild. The Art Cellar studio is the place where this can happen. Most importantly, I want to instill in my students a love of learning, discovering, experimenting and creating.
Learning about artists from the past and the present will help give the students some inspiration in their own Art and encourage art vocabulary. Students will express how a piece makes them feel and why.
Students at every age and grade level should have opportunities using a variety of media in the art room. In addition to clay, paint, and drawing materials, I plan on having a large collection of found objects to use for repurposing. I will also invite students to collect and use objects of their choice. This will allow students to make the project more personally meaningful.
Art is a way of building confidence, creativity, passion, problem solving skills, and much more. In the Art Cellar Studio NY students are encouraged to get out of their comfort zone and try something new!
