About

The AGA is a public gathering place that celebrates and preserves cultural expression. The AGA was founded as a non-profit public art gallery and incorporated on July 7, 1975, and was established by a group of dedicated volunteers and arts enthusiasts.

Description

The Art Gallery of Algoma is a public gallery dedicated to cultivating and advancing the awareness of visual arts in Sault Ste. Marie and district. The AGA's commitment to excellence is reflected in all aspects of its programming. Approximately 24 exhibitions are mounted each year featuring local, national and international artists. The AGA also boasts an ever-growing permanent collection of 5000 works of art and an arts-related resource centre.

The AGA's family of educational programming takes form through classes, lectures, films, tours, school visits, and opening receptions. Public programmes include art instruction, workshops, films, and tours.

All manner of curiousities may be found in the AGA Gallery Shop. Jewellery, books, prints and posters, scarves, seasonal items, toys and more await. For truly inspired gift ideas, the Gallery Shop is the best place to stop.

This is an amazing place to visit in Sault marie. The staff are so kind. The exhibitions there are a very good collection. Its very clean and quiet. There is a souvenir shop with reasonable price inside the gallery premise. The gallery is waterfront and there is a lot of place for good pictures sight seeing and to relax.Must visit stop if you are in Sault Marie.
Entrance ticket was $7, friendly staff but very small collection. They got 3 sections, one with the Group of Seven, one with a local native artist and one exhibition that was on loan from Ottawa Art Gallery. There were about 20 small paintings from the Group right at the entrance and about 10 paintings from the local native artist. The whole place would take 10 mins to finish.
Great experience, just incredibly short. Would’ve have 5 stars if it took us longer than 12 minutes to see all of the paintings. Still nice and the money you spend is for a good cause.

The pictures, painting and sculpture speak for themselves!!!!! Beautiful I could spend all day there admiring....
We are members of the art gallery and love visiting new exhibitions. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The gallery itself is clean and bright.
Just a nice little museum,we are touring America and Canada one small town at a time
Great little gallery that puts on 3 different exhibits at a time. You can see it with an hour to spare. Classwork by Carson Merriefield was outstanding.
Great space. My son enjoyed the activities and the art in the gallery is very accessible.
It's cool to see all the work by talented local artists on display.
