Art X Detroit festival programming takes place on April 9-12, 16-17, and 25-26. An ongoing visual arts exhibition will be on view at MOCAD April 9-26.
Art X Detroit is a biennial multidisciplinary celebration of the arts in Detroit, and will specifically showcase the 2013-2014 Kresge Artist Fellows and Eminent Artist Awardees. Art X Detroit will be held over ten days in April 2015 and will also feature an exhibition at MOCAD that will run from Wednesday, April 10 through Wednesday, April 28, 2015. Most scheduled events, presentations, panel discussions, installations, etc., will be concentrated within Midtown Detroit’s Woodward Corridor.

Art X Detroit is administered by Midtown Detroit, Inc. (MDI) in conjunction with The Kresge Foundation. An event planning committee, comprised of staff from MDI, The Kresge Foundation, ArtServe Michigan, the College for Creative Studies, and MOCAD guides the planning process for the event.
Art X Detroit aims to bring into focus the incredible wealth of talent that exists here in Detroit and to elevate the profile of the local artistic community, as well as:
+ Expose the Kresge Eminent Artists and Kresge Artist Fellowship awardees to a larger national, regional, and local audience.
+ Provide opportunities and momentum for this group to experiment in new directions and with each other, ultimately creating a more exciting and immersive program designed for audiences of any age and experience.
+ Provide a context to discuss Detroit’s arts and cultural identity, as well as its social complexities, and how this shapes and stabilizes our neighborhoods.
+ Demonstrate Detroit’s artistic excellence, providing the public an opportunity to experience Detroit as an incubator for multidisciplinary art.
