Originally named for what was the main intersection in the fledgling city of La Crosse in what is believed to be the early 1900’s. An Arterial was a common term used for the major thorough fares of young growing towns. The Arterial has been a family owned La Crosse tradition for over 100 years, dating back to pre-prohibition. Historians recall The Arterial being a tavern before prohibition and a general store, seamstress shop, and more during the dry years. From post prohibition through today, The Arterial has operated as La Crosse’s favorite local bar and grill. The current building constructed in 2003 and remains under constant improvements to assure the local treasure remains with us for another century.
