I just don't understand, we came here 2 years ago and the food was great. We drove 4 hours for vacation and we got hockey puck burgers ordered med rare, with not even a full slice a cheese. And the slice of tomato on top have a inch dried stem with leaves still on it, for almost 14 bucks a piece. I don't mind pricey food if it tastes great and is high quality, this was none of theses. When u leave a stem and leaves on a tomato and serve it to your guest, that's something u don't miss, that's intentional and it's a sign your cooks don't care about your business.
Very nice atmosphere and a good restaurant to have a good dinner or a drink. "Vermont Mule" cocktail is awesome. And salmon dish is top notch. Not very good combination with French fries though. Also the soup of the day was some fish soup and that was awesome. I would visit here again. And very difficult to get a table between 6-8. We had to wait one hour to get a table.
I wish I could give no star but it is what it is. We stopped by for a lunch on our way to Ben & Jerry. The place was nice and the waitress nicer but the food was awful. The burgers were cold, the mac and cheese was mac with no cheese. The mussel was okay but again, it was lukewarm at best. The soup was nice. Honestly, I think they microwaved the pre-prepared dishes. And they charged me $95 for party of six. What a waste - I should have gone to the next door for nice barbecue.
We were looking for a cute place to stop for lunch before heading to the Ben & Jerry's factory and stumbled upon this place. We sat outside on their beautiful patio; very family friendly with a nice, homey, country feel. To my surprise, they had quite an extensive menu. I ordered the Avocado BLT w/ an Arnold Palmer drink. Both were fabulous! My friend's ordered the Salmon Burger on top of the spinach salad and Reuben & both said they were delicious. I highly recommend it! for Lunch at least
Last time I visited arvads was probably 2010. Just went there the other night and really didn't expect much. 2017 is a whole different story! The food was absolutely beautiful in presentation, delicious, and served very friendly. I was really impressed how far they have come. Menu is not huge, which is nice because that allows the kitchen to focus on perfecting the dishes they have. Also probably makes the food more fresh when served. Beer list is nothing like the Reservoir in terms of variety but what they do have is a solid dozen or so Vermont or otherwise craft beers on tap. I would give 4.5 stars if I could. The only obvious areas for improvement were space as in its a bit tight and the noise. But that's almost a given in Waterbury... If you have overlooked Arvads in the past, it's certainly worth giving it another shot today.
This is probably a reasonable restaurant if you are starving and out of options. The food is edible and the service was sufficient. However, they don't seem to make anything from scratch at this restaurant: for example, when we asked the waitress what the chicken fingers were breaded in, she said that they came frozen in a box; when I asked what one of their sauces contained, she said it came in a bottle; I ordered guacamole, and their version looked like sour cream that was tinted green rather than true mashed avocados with seasonings. Again, it isn't that the food was inedible or the waitresses were incompetent -- but I go to restaurants to be "pampered" with a fresh meal and fresh ingredients. Honestly, if I just wanted to eat frozen chicken fingers and bottled sauce I would have just gone across the street to the grocery store and picked up something to heat up at home.
Awful! Bad service. Bad food. We were served by a lazy tattooed gal. I ordered a bison burger medium rare and asked for no bun as I am allergic to wheat. She served the burger on the bun, and when I stated that I asked for no bun, she replied "do you want me to just take it off the bun for you?" When I finally got the meal as I thought I had ordered it, my burger was cooked well done. Awful experience and I'll never go back.
Do not go next door, this is the place to eat. The staff was excellent and recommended food and drinks. The food was very high end for a pub and there was a large variety of beer on tap. Price was below the level of food. I will go back to this Pub the next time I am in town.
Both the regular burgers and the veggie burger were cold, and the fries seemed like they had been sitting out for awhile. The veggie burger was horrible! The ketchup had a film on top from sitting out too long before being brought to our table. I used to love going to Arvads but over the past year the service has been horrible, and the food has also been quite bad.
Arvard's is a pleasant local variation on fern bars. They have an excellent selection of local, domestic, and imported beer -- but stick to the local brands, which are wonderful. Their menu includes quite a few locally sourced salads, assemble-your-own burgers this reviewer recommends the veggie burger with chevre and sauteed spinach, and more. Laid back and welcoming.
