1919: Founded as the School of Nursing affiliated with Mansfield General Hospital.
1997: Transitioned to MedCentral College of Nursing.
2010: Ashland University acquired the College of Nursing from MedCentral Health System. College was renamed based on a $5 million gift from Dwight Schar towards the future campus.
2012: College of Nursing merged with the Sports Science and Dietetics departments to becoem the Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences, offering degrees in Athletic Training, Dietetics, Exercise Science and Nursing.

The mission of the Post-licensure track is to provide an opportunity for registered nurses (RN) who are graduates of diploma or associate degree nursing programs to acquire a baccalaureate degree in nursing. By building upon the foundation of previous knowledge and experience, the curriculum prepares the RN to practice professional nursing in a variety of settings with all types of clients. The track provides a foundation for graduate education in nursing.
