Dr. Ashley Egan is a general surgeon based in Rockwall, Texas in East Dallas. She has offices in Rockwall, Rowlett, and Wylie to be more convenient for her patients. She considers herself a "jack of all trades" as her practice truly encompasses ALL of general surgery. She performs surgery on skin and soft tissue, hernias, gallbladders, colon cancer, appendicitis, weight loss (bariatric) surgery, thyroids, parathyroids, and anti-reflux surgery. She also offers colonoscopies and EGDs. She finds great joy in helping patients to feel better, whether it be to cure them of abdominal pain or helping them start their journey in weight loss.
Dr. Egan is a Texas native. She grew up north of Houston with her loving parents and sisters.
Dr. Egan is a very proud Georgia Bulldawg! She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia. During her college years, she was the starting goalkeeper on the University of Georgia soccer team. She feels that this experience created her surgical personality as both a "team player" and someone who wants to be the best. After Georgia, she completed medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She went on to complete her internship and residency training in general surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Throughout her education, Dr. Egan served in leadership positions and received numerous awards, scholarships and honors, including SEC Student Athlete of the year twice. She has enjoyed transitioning her competitiveness and pursuit of excellence from the soccer field into the operating room.
Dr. Egan is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and she was named the Raleigh Ross Scholar from the Texas Surgical Society.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Egan enjoys playing golf, crossfit, riding her bike, hunting and fishing, cooking and visiting family. She has 8 nieces and nephews that she absolutely adores. Most of all, Dr. Egan enjoys spending time with her husband Rick and son Thomas.
