This is a horrible place to be. If you are caught doing something worth going to jail you better get out of their county before you get caught, my friend has been in there for 6 days and hasn’t been fed once and is getting beat everyday all because he is a black man. They told him they wanted him out of their state and dropped all charges to traffic tickets only to then the next day put him on 50,000$ bond and only allow 1 phone call a day when other inmates get 3.
Worst jail ever.. you would be much better off avoiding this Podunk craphole. As the people of Atchison here say, "Come in on vacation, leave on probation." Therefore, don't vacation here. The town isn't much better, so you wouldn't be missing much anyway. The staff are incompetent and the food is abhorrent borderline inedible. And..... Apparently the city office isn't much better, as I was falsely arrested for a fine I had paid 6 months earlier. That's a few hours I will never get back; however, I was fortunate due to the fact that I was able to pay my bail, and didn't suffer from anything more than a dent in my patience.
How is it that I've called up here to the jail and give my phone number to the phone operator to give to an inmate and the operator is going to reply "sure what's your number" so I tell him my number and a few days go by and i call back up there to the jail and I had asked why if the inmate received my number the operator replied and said "yes mr. Kellerman received the number" and I say "ok". 2 days later mr kellerman mother calls me and asked why I haven't tried to reach out to her son aka my brothermr.kellerman. So I called back up there to the jail and the operator said "this is xavier calling about mr.kellerman again isn't it I can tell by the last 4 digits of your phone number" I said why didn't you give the number to mr.kellerman the operator replied and said "we aren't allowedto give our inmates numbers" s this is highly disrespectful why would you tell me you can give my number to mr.kellerman if you aren't allowed to I called the operator out on lying and there was a moment of silence then the phone hung up. This is highly unprofessional.
They treat inmates in multiple horrible kind of manners of which most are illegal and I have no idea how they still get away with how they run this jail.
Loophole hell. Staff was koo. Food was my meant for human consumption. Two bites and my stomach was bad for two days. Don't recommend a visit.
Worst place to work. The staff is rude. They bullied me. They didn't want to train me like I should have been trained. I don't recommend this place!!!
It's a government agency. Their not known to be popular
You wouldn't believe me.
