Athens City Schools is a K-12 public school district serving Athens, Alabama since 1909. Our mission is to be a progressive, high-quality school system that connects students and their families to a caring, traditional community.
Founded in 1909 and located in idyllic Athens, Alabama, the Athens City School district has a long history of high academic standards, competitive athletic teams, superior faculty and staff and widespread community support.
The average ACT score for students at Athens High School is 23.6. For the past five years 100% of Athens High School seniors have passed the Alabama High School Graduation exam. For the past four year period, an average of 80% of the graduating seniors have gone to college.
The district is comprised of four elementary schools, one intermediate school, a middle school and one high school. Additionally, we have one elementary STEM academy and a non-traditional online and blended school.
Athens is home to SPARK Academy, a K-4 elementary STEM program. SPARK stands for Scientific Project-based Academic Research by Kids. It is an innovative program offered by Athens City Schools. To learn more, visit www.acs-k12.org/ces.
Because Athens City Schools understands the needs of today's learners, we also offer Athens Renaissance School. Athens Renaissance is a K-12 online and blended educational option for non-traditional students. ARS offers a fully comprehensive curriculum that can be personalized to meet the needs of each individual student. A dedicated staff is available for support.
