Awesome people at donation drop off. Hours for donations are more compatible with a working persons schedule. Doesn't act like your world should revolve around them.
This is the place to look for used furniture in Athens !
They have a great clothing section , great prices. They also have a large selection of materials with fair pricing .Yes they have a better selection now as well. Make sure to visit the outside part as well.
Habitat for humanity prides itself on being there for the community and helping. I have been to locations that do that. This location however, does not. It is by far the most demeaning experience I have had at any location. I am a single divorced mom of 7. Due to covid, we have lost everything and are just now recovering. Replacing everything for 7 children is tough. I went to the Restore East and found two matching beds. I spoke to the manager because one we couldn’t confirm had all the pieces and he helped my family. No questions asked. No haggling. He understood. He was wonderful. He had no mattresses. I want to the Restore West and found 1 twin size mattress. Two of my daughters and my mother was with us. They wanted almost 300 for a twin size mattress. He said because the person who DONATED it paid almost 800. I expressed to him that we need the mattress. I went over our situation. I told him we had 100 but we had to get beds for all kids and even that would be tough. He said no, i can get more. My mom darn near begged him. In front of my kids, she asked him is it his decision alone. He said yes. She said please have a heart. I’m helping her even with the 100. He said no. I know I can get more. Do you need a buggy. My girls were gutted. My mom was livid at how he could be so cold then offer a buggy. For what… we couldn’t take the mattress. I told my girls no worries. Doesn’t God always provide. But inside i was very angry. This is an unacceptable experience for a company that prides themselves on helping others and receives for free on that premise. I personally have given so much before we were hit with covid. Shame on that manager.
Easy to navigate and sift through the relics. Found the people in there intolerable by just cutting you off and grabbing stuff in front of you.
Nice place! The only downside is that there is no real organization. There's a section for Books and Media but there were many shelves of books and media all around the store. You can find some gems if you have the time to comb through everything but for someone just browsing it's kind of a nightmare.
Until recently, I enjoyed shopping at this thrift store and always took my donations here instead of greedy Goodwill. Well, I hadn’t been in for several months until yesterday and I was shocked to see the prices $219 for a chest of drawers? $599 for a kitchen table? $29 for a CD player when you can get a new one cheaper? ALL of their items are DONATED... they have $0 invested, and now they’ve gotten greedy too. Who in the world prices this stuff? They’re completely out of touch with reality.
Such a great charity! I do want them to have the most money but who in the world is buying stuff at the prices they started charging last year? $200 for a stained brown couch? $59 for a stained 2’ x 3’ table? I am honestly happy to see quality vintage furniture priced fairly, but there’s all this junk furniture priced crazy...
I found a beautiful wardrobe cabinet made of real wood, as opposed to pressed board that cost 1/4 of what a brand new, cheaply made piece would have cost. The staff helped me load it & were all friendly & helpful.
Some good finds here.
